I have now received a reply from the management, executive assistant manager to be precise. He was very apologetic and as a compensation will refund the full amount of stay. That's a fair play.

Indeed. They really took it seriously.

What is your Le Club status? Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Very much so.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked luxury room with city view and received luxury club room with lake view (the upgrade was confirmed already before arriving by a guest relations manager when he contacted me by email and asked our estimated arrival time so that they can prepare the room for us).

How are the rooms?
Liked it. Had fresh flowers and amazing view to Westlake and Hanoi’s center. Large, luxurious bathroom with separate bathtub and walk-in shower. Amenities included Lanvin’s toiletries and bottled water that were both restocked twice a day (and they brought even more if needed). Free laundry for three items per day was useful.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Personalized service: nothing was too much asked. For example, our bed was too firm to our liking so they made it softer by adding extra fetherbed on top of everything.
- Active management: GM and GM2 could be seen in dinner and breakfast buffets checking that everything is good.
- Excellent dinner and breakfast buffets with decent price (they have the best croissants I have eaten outside France)
- Location: away from husstle and busstle yet not too far from city center. Taxi ride takes about 10 minutes to Sofitel Metropole and old quarter and cost only 2–3 euros.
- HUGE swimming pool for a hotel (water is warmed)

Bad:
- Price list for everything including even a room service menu(!), laundry bag, and telephone was very weird, like a joke
- Very dated spa except the pool (feels totally different hotel when entering that area)
- Lounge offerings are somewhat boring (but on the other hand, one can’t expect to get a full dinner buffet there)

Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Large and comfortable lounge, even though not very luxurious (design is more like from a beach villa, I guess it’s a matter of taste). Food on offer doesn’t change much and is limited so ended up trying buffet dinner with oysters, scallops and prawns downsters (loved it), bar menu at lobby (one of the best burgers I have ever had!) and ordering a tasty margharita pizza from room service menu to be delivered to the lounge with freeflowing drinks. It works!

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
- Platinum recognition was perfection: a guest relations agent escorted us from lobby to lounge to check in and was so thankful for my platinum status. At the lounge, a guest relations manager personally welcomed and shaked hands with us. He was almost every morning and evening in the lounge and made sure all is good.
- A hand-written welcome card from GM2 was waiting for us in the room together with fresh flowers, macaroons, chocolates, mangos and some other fruites.
- Drink voucher was given at check-in, usable for selected wines, beers, cocktails and soft drinks at lobby bar or Summit lounge.

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Absolutely! I will certainly be back when returning to lovely Hanoi. Wonderful hotel with excellent platinum recognition and decent prices (Sofitel Plaza was more than three times cheaper than Sofitel Metropole during our travel). A very good example of a truly five-star hotel!

We had a very similar experience as a platinum member, loved it. We spent 5 days there and one at Metropole, and while Metropole was a nicer hotel, I think I preferred the treatment and efforts of the Plaza.

Name of the hotel: Mercure Bali Legian

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked standard king bed ,received deluxe king bed with balcony

- How are the rooms? Very new ,quite spacious

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Good Platinum recognition. Checked in about an hour early which was no problem. Personal greeting from manager. Fruit drinks on arrival and platter in room.Staff very friendly all round. Had phone stolen on the streets and hotel provided car ,driver and security staff to take me to police station to report theft (totally wonderful ,hotel not the weazle who stole my phone ) Late check out until 1 pm granted (we wanted until 4 but outs better than nowt )

Bad: .Both lounge area and restaurant far too hot (2 dyson airblades do not qualify for air conditioned room resulting in zillions of flies so only dined here once for b/fast for that reason. No furniture on balcony !!

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A

- What about welcome drinks, Only fruit juice on arrival no alcoholic drinks vouchers supplied but drinks around lounge bar and pools had 25 % discount which is always encouraged by myself !

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Great central area in Legian and at $60 a night wouldn't hesitate to use it again !!

No, I probably won't go back. Don't want to take a risk and Sofitel Saigon was so good.

And don't forget the Pullman which is an equally good property.

Name of the hotel: Sofitel Nusa Dua

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Luxury Room Plunge Pool, 1 King Size Bed ,received pool access room which was wonderful

- How are the rooms? Quite spacious in good condition

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Good Platinum recognition with added addition of lounge access. Staff were as friendly as i have ever met anywhere. Pool access upgrade was the dog's bollox

Bad: Not enough shaded areas around pool unfortunately ,whilst spying on other hotel pools they didn't seem to have this problem unless of course there were a lot more occupants in Sofitel. Far toooooooo many screaming rugrats running loose around club Millesime which was totally wrong even at Christmas !! Please keep control people !

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? Yes was quite spacious with a good selection of foods both at breakfasts and canapes times (b/fast could be taken in restaurant too but it looked like it resembled a zoo so never tried it) ,mind you they did seem a bit repetitive most nights. Drinks wise this is the first time i have been in a lounge where it is not self service and everything is brought to you on request by staff which seemed rather strange but we managed

- What about welcome drinks, Yes welcome drinks were made available even if we forgot to use them

- Value for $ or Vouchers? $250 between Christmas and New Year didn't seem bad at all when using $500 vouchers:D Would return to hotel without a doubt but only if they moved it somewhere more exciting !! Whilst definitely an array of 5 star hotels are available in Nusa Dua it is definitely not an entertainment metropolis :D

Ibis Budget LYS

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received what I think is a family room with a bunk bed over the main bed. Would be good for a family of 3.

- How are the rooms?
Clean enough and desk space. But the mattress was like sleeping on the ground.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Airport shuttle
Bar service at 11:45pm

Bad:
Bed too hard

- Value for € or Vouchers? Would you return?
Yes if I need to be cheap. This was my first Ibis Budget stay and the only reason is that this is the top Accor hotel at LYS since they lost the Sofitel which was inside the airport. There is a much better NH hotel right across from the terminal, but it costs 3 to 4 times as much as the Ibis. I was there for about 6 hours so why waste the money?

Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences

- Name of the hotel:
Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very Happy

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior Room, received Premium Deluxe Corner Room

- How are the rooms?
Corner room offers ample of space (listed as 54 m2) and is nicely decorated. Bedding is very nice but sofa is a bit dated. Tissue rolls and toilet hose are awkwardly placed. I love the walk-in closet. All in all, it's a very nice private space while in KL.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
* Corner room is simply very nice. Mine got a (discounted) glimpse of *one* Petronas Tower :)
* Location is very good, near the very lively, very late night Pavilion eateries corridor. Novotel, which is around the corner, is a little bit better located though.
* Staff are very nice all around

Bad:
Nothing that turned my mood sour

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes, it's a nice lounge. Plenty of space with nice staff. Food and drink selections are limited (coming from Sofitel Plaza Hanoi and the Metropole...) It is deserted for breakfast however.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
* I was given a special sweet concoction as welcome drink at the executive lounge's check in table. No welcome drink voucher was given and I didn't ask.
* Plate of fruits and a macaron in the room upon checking in

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I really enjoyed staying there. Trade-offs with Novotel seem to be location vs niceties. Like most other hotels in KL, it is a very good value, even much more so if you could book it at one of the Accor sale periods.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort And Spa

- Name of the hotel: Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort And Spa

- What is your Le Club status? Plat

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Not really

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Luxury Garden Room > Prestige Suite (I guess)

- How are the rooms? The room was very nice but house keeping was a problem, some dirt visible

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Upgrade, nice setting away from the Singapore madness,

Bad: Service was very poor, staff not very attentive, especially in the bar. I would rate them still in training.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? No lounge but free breakfast for Plats. ^

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Welcome drinks vouchers were provided but were soft drink only :td: The Plat amenity took 2 days to arrive (sweets. fruit and a bottle of wine)

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Given the lack of service I'd say poor value. Probably won't return.
