Use of Accor Points
Hello,
I've been using Accor hotesl for the last year through work and have built up a few points (14k). I am looking to spend a weekend in Vienna and fancy the Sofitel based on a number of recommendations. When I book online, I don't see an option to use only a certain number - say 8k, where by default 14k are applied.
I have read here that you can buy a voucher for x number of points, but this can only be applied to the Best Available Rate at the hotel upon check-in/out. While booking online, you can generally apply the voucher to advanced pre-paid rates.
Is there any way around this, or is it as simple (I hope) as I have explained it!?
Much appreciated, willing to accept donation of points also
A tired Spud!

you can use all your points once you've reached 2000 points
but you can use less than your total balance
and also you may only spend multiples of 2000
meaning that:
- you have 14k, you will be able to spend 14, not less
- you have 9k: you will be able to spend 8k (or you have 8001 points, you can spend 8000)
but you can use less than your total balance

I agree that this is a very annoying feature of current system, when booking with points, to not be able to choose the number of points to use. And I think this should not be hard to implement (paging Accorconcierge

For some reason I seemed to be able to pay the exact amount of points needed when booking an Ibis Styles sometime ago. This must have rather been reintroduced to limit the convertability of points - otherwise, each and every point anybody ever earn would be converted and that would cost Accor more money
Overflow points over the 2000 multiples can be converted to airline miles - turn on the automatic conversion just before the end of month, let it convert, and turn it off once it does.
BTW, don't book Sofitels with points, this is, pardonnez-le-mot, pointless. You earn very well paying for Sofitels, but you earn very little in Ibis, Ibis Styles and Adagios. The wise thing to do is pay for all upmarket brands (esp. when there is a special offer with more points) and pay with points for the basic brands.

Just beware that these rates may allow hotel to charge the credit card informed in advance. Otherwise, if payment is expected only at checkin or checkout you can then use paper vouchers. Read carefully the T&C of the rate.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for all of your input. We are always on the look out for constant customer feedback to improve and adapt our offer!
Just incase here is a recap of the current points system:
You can use your Le Club Accorhotels Points to pay online for all or part of your stay.
The total amount payable, including taxes, must be greater than or equal to the number of points being converted (2,000 points = 40 ).
Reservations for non-cancellable and non-modifiable rates must be paid in part by credit card.
You can use your Le Club Accorhotels points to make bookings on the following websites: accorhotels.com, sofitel.com, pullmanhotels.com, mgallery.com, novotel.com, suitenovotel.com, mercure.com, ibishotel.com, ibisstyles.com, and adagio.com, as well as via the Accor telephone reservation center.
The use of points may not, under any circumstances, give rise to any monetary compensation of any kind, including giving change.
2. How many points do I need to benefit from this advantage?
- You need to have at least 2,000 points when you make the reservation.
- Points are used in multiples of 2,000 points (for example, if you have 4,450 Le Club Accorhotels Points in your account, you can use 4,000 points).
- You can use up to 1,000,000 points per reservation.
We are regularly reviewing our systems and have heard your message! I will transfer this to HQ so that they can take all your input into account! This is a bit of a big change so it may take some time.
Best Regards,
Nathan
