$21 from T is pretty much guaranteed to be charged differently on your CC.
Not strictly speaking a TOD, but when I booked an ORD-SFO r/t about 3 weeks out, I was offered Y->J $199 and Y->F $199 at booking. If I had taken both I would have given them about $900 total for the r/t, which is about what I've been paying for coach r/t lately (usually only book 5 or so days out). Sucks to know I could be flying J/F for the same cost if only my schedule were more firm.

I just booked a roundtrip JFK-LAX in BF on the outbound and economy on the return (I applied an RPU on the return after booking). Right before completion of payment I was offered a TOD upgrade to BF on the return for $600 and change. What's crazy is that I could have booked BF directly for the return for less than the TOD offer. The roundtrip fare for the ticket in BF would have been $1,196, or $598 each way. The TOD would have had me paying about $200 for coach plus $600+ for the upgrade. Nuts.

I'm UA Platinum booked in coach for a flight Thursday morning CLE-LAX. I got CPU'd just before T-24. (I'm 1/2 on CPUs so far, by the way.) Also traveling (on a separate itinerary) are TSMRSRNE and our nephew. I checked them in and they were both offered upgrades for $249 each. Declined. (I'm going to give my upgrade to our nephew.)

Another one ....
Booked DFW/ORD in G for 119 (good deal) and did not use my 1K number.
Got an upgrade offer on the itin page for $165. Added 1K number, went to $424.
One way P fare is 370.00

I was on an E fare and offered a buy-up to F for $130. Every other time I've taken the buy-up offer, I've booked into Z/P/A and received the 1.5 segments and the fare bonus. I took the offer and was booked into PN. I contacted UA and asked why and they told me I bought up to an M fare and received the "instant upgrade" and I wasn't entitled to any type of bonus as the UG was "complimentary". Slightly annoyed as half the reason for buying up was for the extra .5 PQS

You'll also get screwed during IRROPS. They really should not call instant upgrades "buy-ups".
