This is nothing... On my first trip to the Ukraine (and staying at a western-name brand hotel), the phone rang about 9:00 PM. It was the front desk asking me (unsolicited) if I would like "company." Geez...
(No, I didn't accept...)

The Hilton FCO's rooms have tacky signs on the desks saying hotel bills describe in-room movies as "communication services." A jarring note in an otherwise wonderful hotel.

Isn't porn PPV, so there is no one channel that is on showing it, at a Marriott, *Wood, Fairmont that I have stayed at, never have I noticed a openly available (non-PPV) porn channel.

I recall checking in a rather fancy hotel in Paris a month ago, turning on the TV and BAM! right there, no kid security screen nothing, a couple of hard-core channels! And I do mean hard core, close-up, bareback stuff, none of that faux-romantic Playboy channel material.
Having just flown in from the US, it was a bit of a shock.
But after all, why not?
And also: why is gay porn not offered? I understand it's much better. So I am told.

It seems as though quite a number of hotel properties, such as Hampton Inns, only offer regular or extended cable access with one premium channel, usually Home Box Office (HBO), and do not even offer the option of x-rated movies anymore.
While rare, I have noticed that some higher-priced properties no longer offer x-rated movies, yet they still offer other services such as games and popular movies as part of their pay-per-view service.
Is this part of a growing trend, at least in the low-to-mid-priced hotel properties?
--------------------
By the way, I have enjoyed all of the movie titles of the x-rated movies mentioned in this thread. Keep them coming!
I'm just surprised that nowhere in this conversation did I didn't see mention of removing BIBLES from hotel rooms! Of course, if you don't want to read it, don't...and the same goes for porn channels.
It always sounded like an urban myth that was perhaps not that far off, but i have a good friend that always claims his cousin worked for one of the large PPV hotel companies and that the average time actually watched of one of these movies was 7 minutes.
On the other hand a college roomate of mine actually wrote his college thesis on porno titles and their play on actual movie titles. Discussion included the crossover subject matter of the linked films. By the way, bringing this all back to FT, his father, was a captain for CO at the time.

I would love to read that thesis. And meet the professor who approved that theme.
I recall reading a story about this a couple of years ago, pointing out that PPV porn had become a huge revenue stream for hotels, and quoting several big chains as saying the main complaints were that... the movies weren't explicit enough.
In the last few years, indeed, I think the PPV offerings in the US have evolved from "hard R" cuts of mainstream porn films, which tease a lot but show no explicit medical-encyclopedia stuff, to straight-X, no-holds-barred movies, mostly shot on video.
Banning hotel porn is a stupid, invasive idea, and not just because it's a money tree for the hotels. Next these prigs will be campaigning to get red meat off the room-service menu.
Best porn title ever: Schindler's Fist.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints never states what corporations it does or does not own stock in, so how do you know that the LDS Church owns any Marriott stock? In any event, the whole "guilt-by-association" argument is specious.

Those of us who run consulting teams, where the expenses are billed on to the client with copies of the hotel account, may well be familiar with the hassle of finding that one of the team has had one of these films (in one case one every night for a week!). Contact hotel, get fresh copy of bill without The Evidence faxed over, deduct amount from employees' expense claim, write Priv&Conf memo to employee - it takes about 2 hours. So has anyone found a way to disable such films for supposed adults ??!![/b]</font>

There are a variety of urban legends related to the Mormons' ownership of various companies. We always heard the stories told that they run Coca-Cola or Pepsico. Neither one is true (beyond the fact that some Mormons might indeed hold those stocks).
I wonder if Mormons find these legends funny. There aren't any urban legends about the United Methodists controlling some big multinational conglomerate. Maybe I ought to start a rumor...
