Hello again, folks. I forgot about this thread -- it's a great idea. Destination marathoning has been my passion for about a decade now. If anyone wants info on any of these races, fire away any questions:
London
Barcelona
Prague
Dublin (My one DNF -- quit at mile 18)
Berlin
Dubai
Beirut
Jerusalem
Hong Kong
Toyko
NYC
Boston
Chicago
San Francisco
Napa Valley
Bridge to Bridge (12K -- course crosses Golden Gate Bridge)
Bay to Breakers (12K in San Francisco -- part race, part party)

I'm signed up to run it in October. I think I'm going to really love it. Or really hate it. One or the other.

It's not a destination marathon (for me - it might be for you!), but I did the Colfax Half (Denver) this morning. Chilly, overcast, but thank goodness, no rain. I won the pushrim wheelchair division (thanks to a distinct lack of competition) in 1:43:44.

Has anyone done the Midnight Sun half in Iceland? I was signed up to do it this year but then life happened and I will be 9 months pregnant that weekend and had to defer my registration.
I did the Nashville half a few weeks back - I haven't done it in 5 years and the course has changed. Start much closer to the river and avoid the huge downhill to begin that used to happen with the start near Centennial Park. I'm a flatlander normally so this is a pretty hilly course for me but it was still enjoyable. Of course, there was no PR due to the aforementioned pregnant state, but despite the rain I was able to finish in decent time.
I'd LOVE to do the Moab Half next year and bring the kiddo, so any tips on that one is welcome as well!

I've got a buddy doing the Last Annual Vol State 500K. It's a race directed by the same guy who cooked up the Barkley's Marathons. That dude just has a sadistic streak in him.
Watching my friend's progress almost has me considering trying something like that...ALMOST.
Anyone done this race or something similar?

If you're up for a chilly adventure, I highly recommend the Polar Circle Marathon in western Greenland. I did this a couple of week ago. Video for the 2016 race:
Keep in mind that it sells out very quickly after registration opens up.

Getting ready for Honolulu this morning. Will be my second time but I've managed to catch a cold so not expecting much. I'm looking forward to the post race Kona longboard lager while relaxing on the beach much more than the race itself!
