This Wiki is helpful for those of us trying to identify if we're getting a good rate or if it may be better to wait until a better rate comes along.
As such, please list the lowest rate you've ever seen at a property that is available to the general public (this excludes SET rates, Gov't rates and AARP). We will include AAA rates, since anyone can join AAA and be eligible.
Please be sure to:
1- list the mo/year the rate was good for (NOT the month you found the rate). This will allow us to see seasonality. So, for example if you find a rate lower than one shown below for the same season (spring, summer, winter or fall) - replace the rate you found with the new one. If you found it in a different season or year, just add it below the rate - and leave the rate shown.
2- list the type of rate you found or where you found it (if not on Starwood). If you found the rate off Starwood - please list "all in" rate (including taxes & fees you were charged).
3- list the rates in local currency (which removes currency fluctuations).

Here's a hypothetical example: I'm heading to Thailand in November. It's my first time and I have no idea what the rates are. I find rates at the Le Meridien Bangkok at 4,000 THB and at the SGS at almost 6,000 THB. Are they good rates? On the low side? High side? If the rates I found are pre-paid would it be worthwhile to book them? Or would it be better to wait? Or perhaps choose a rate at the Westin Grande at 3,000 THB? In this hypothetical example, using the data in this thread - I would either book the Westin Grande at 3,000 THB prepaid, or wait to see if the Le Meridien or SGS come down. Without this thread - I would have less information to make such a decision.
When I'm heading to a city in the future - I monitor rates over months at a time (when I have such advance notice). But sometimes I don't - and being able to see what the lowest rates were gives me a much better idea of what to do. I agree, those rates may not come around again. However, based on the data gathered so far, I am able to identify a much closer range that rates fall into than without this thread. As such, my informed decision is much better than without.
This thread will not help you get the absolute lowest rate ever - and is not intended to do so. But I believe it is very helpful to give you an idea of the type of 'best' rates available at a certain hotel, which can be very helpful when you have no experience at that property or city.

i've added the four points by sheraton jaipur to the wiki....my usual rate in the summer for the last 2 years is around $50 (tax inclusive) a night....in 2013 i often found rates for $43 a night....i also use this property for day stays quite often & most of the time i get a $32 rate....

Whoever added LM Bangkok - how do I find it for 2700++? I think the wiki needs more detail (site, promo code or rate, example date) to be useful.

I also like the idea of sample dates (rather than seasons), but it just seemed the wiki would get incredibly difficult to read. Open to suggestions on how to modify.

but that idea didn't pick up obviously - although spreadsheets are obviously a very good idea to capture, structure and analyze data... but some people seem to be afraid of grids (in general, I mean, not related to this forum).

I'm new to this forum, and was wondering if anyone knows of a good booking rate code to use for The Westin Resort and Casino, Aruba.
I tried a few SET numbers and the best rate I could come up with is ~ $320 per night from Feb 15 to Feb 19, 2014.
