This Wiki is helpful for those of us trying to identify if we're getting a good rate or if it may be better to wait until a better rate comes along.
As such, please list the lowest rate you've ever seen at a property that is available to the general public (this excludes SET rates, Gov't rates and AARP). We will include AAA rates, since anyone can join AAA and be eligible.
Please be sure to:
1- list the mo/year the rate was good for (NOT the month you found the rate). This will allow us to see seasonality. So, for example if you find a rate lower than one shown below for the same season (spring, summer, winter or fall) - replace the rate you found with the new one. If you found it in a different season or year, just add it below the rate - and leave the rate shown.
2- list the type of rate you found or where you found it (if not on Starwood). If you found the rate off Starwood - please list "all in" rate (including taxes & fees you were charged).
3- list the rates in local currency (which removes currency fluctuations).

I think it would be worthwhile to create a Wiki where we can list the lowest rate found at each property available to the general public, with the most recent date listed (not including SET rates, AARP or Gov't rates). It is very important to show the date (because rates do change over time).

I realize one flaw in this may be timing - some properties have lower rates in certain seasons or during certain times of the year. So perhaps, it is best to list the lowest 3 rates - or lowest rate by season (Spring, Summer, Winter, & Fall).

I assume you're the one who listed the logitravel.de rate for the SGS. Amazing rate!!! I wish I found that - the SGS is my fave hotel in Bangkok. That's a killer rate - did you BRG it so you could get your SPG benefits too?

the rates for W Bangkok and SGS are unbelievable low... *_* too bad i missed that ;>
but i got 2,718.78 THB ++ for the Meridien Bangkok ! (January 2014), a steal as well

I agree one of the possible flaws in this Wiki is that these prices were available at a single point in time and may not become available again. That's why I thought listing by season is somewhat more helpful, as it allows us to generally see lowest rates throughout the year - and if the wiki is kept up to date, it allows us to see those rates for the prior year (which is more relevant than seeing rates from years ago).
Interesting idea. In fact, my initial thoughts were that people would solely list rates found on SPG (since I assumed none of us want to give up our SPG benefits by booking elsewhere). However, since you can BRG the lower rates - it may prove helpful to show 3rd party websites too. Would removing these serve the purpose of the wiki (see below before responding to this question)?
As to that purpose - the intent was to show good deals regardless of rate. I may want to stay at the St Regis - and what I'm trying to ascertain is whether I'm getting the best rate (or close to it) or whether rates are high for some reason. I have flexibility in date(s) and in property when traveling, so I was hoping by having this Wiki I could use it to find whether I'm in the ballpark of the lowest rates.
Let's use the Le Meridien Bangkok since it has 3 of the 4 seasons showing. This provides a good example of what I was seeking. A quick perusal shows me that if I'm able to get a rate around 3000THB ++ then I'm getting a good deal. I also know it's probably wise to grab this deal while it lasts (since rates are unlikely to drop further). Plus, if the best rate I found is 4250THB++ then perhaps I'd like to look at one of the other properties in Bangkok instead. Prior to seeing this Wiki - I had only my single data point (since I've stayed at this property before) to know whether I was getting a good rate or not. Now, with all of us chipping in, we have much more information to make a decision about the rates we're getting at the hotel.
Further, imagine then, that the St Regis Bangkok was 5500THB ++ (assume that's the lowest rate over the seasons) - and I'm able to get it during the same dates. Knowing it's a great deal, I might choose that property over Le Meridien (even though it's more pricey), since I may not see a deal like that again for quite a while.
Anyway, those were my thoughts. I don't feel bad knowing others paid less - instead I'm learning not to wait for a better deal and/or to look at an alternate property within the city to scoop up the best deal.
Absolutely open to ideas to improve this Wiki for all... so let the suggestions roll
I think this thread would be more useful if only continuous / often renewed promo rates were included, e.g.:
- Beat The Timer
- Starpicks / Hot Escapes
- SPG50
Also - is the purpose of this thread to list properties that are inexpensive (<100€) or rates for any property that are considered good deals (e.g. StR NYC < $600) or both?

Thanks! I updated the lowest rate I ever found at the Westin Madrid. Guessing others found lower, so once enough people join in it may drop, but for now - thought it may help you make a decision. I'm going off memory (didn't book it cause it was prepaid), but it was in the low 170's in Euro.
