I always have back up IFE with me, with about 4 long haul flights per month, though a lot of night flights, I often run out of interesting content. So coming to a dark plane would not cause an issue. Though I'll happily accept a few miles as compensation....

Had exactly the same experience Friday evening EWR-CPH. Does anyone have a good email or physical address to send SAS a note. It was terrible, they didn't tell anyone prior to boarding, and the FAs were apologetic, because they knew they were delivering a substandard experience.

Unfortunately had this dog from CPH-EWR a few months back. Worse than I expected. The in-seat entertainment system didn't work... on any seat. They passed out tablets to business class which tells me they knew nothing worked before we boarded but didn't tell anyone. People who didnt have a book were losing their minds - had SAS informed us prior to departure passengers could have picked something up at the airport. Instead most were left playing tic tac toe on napkins for 9.5 hours.
What a disgrace.
What a disgrace.

If I could keep my inbox from overflowing just by being offline, I would do that more often, but the e-mails seems to be ganging up on me, so as soon as I get online again, they all stand ready and jump me at the same time. :-(

You are just wrong. All LH planes have exactly the same standard J cabin (plus minus two or three years of age).
The only thing is that some planes have lost the first cabin. And then LH doesn't sell First on those flights or accomendates passengers which have booked F well ahead of time.
As I said, the very least is to be a bit apologetic and help perhaps offer some compensation. SK misses on both and that makes me angry...

Also if you look at LH's fleet of A340's you will see they have a couple of 20+ year old birds. I wouldn't be surprised if they are spare planes used the same way as LN-RKP.

Sadly, there is renewed talk about an expanded ban of larger electronics on flights from Europe to the US. If this bird continues to be used on US routes, and if the ban is expanded, I would hope that SAS would invest in a repair of the IFE system.

Well. It's just a couple of months ago, where I was on a LH bird where the IFE and other interior was very worn and of older dates.

Large Electronic Devices
Electronic devices larger than a cell phone/smart phone will not be allowed to be carried onboard the aircraft in carry-on luggage or other accessible property. Electronic devices that exceed this size limit must be secured in checked luggage. Necessary medical devices will be allowed to remain in a passenger’s possession after they are screened.
The approximate size of a commonly available smartphone is considered to be a guideline for passengers. Examples of large electronic devices that will not be allowed in the cabin on affected flights include, but are not limited to:
Laptops
Tablets
E-Readers
Cameras
Portable DVD players
Electronic game units larger than a smartphone
Travel printers/scanners

Well. I'm 200% sure I was on a 330 or 340 LH bird around March this year, which definitely didn't have new interior, nor a fully functional IFE at all seats. But I had a pretty tight travel schedule, so I didn't make a note about which bird it was.

Good for you on your tablet if it falls under the current guidelines, pasted below from the TSA website. Your tablet must be fairly small. What brand? May need to get one!

Under this guideline, I would be stuck with books or my phone.... :-(

We probably need to cross a whole lot of other things with the rationale of the current US administration. But we do know it will be "Yuge"

Not having a laptop on board is totally manageable for me. For effective 4-5 hours of work on a TATL flight, I can keep myself with printed materials easily. The issue is unreliability of luggage handling. Not having a laptop on arrival, or having a broken laptop on arrival, is entirely unacceptable. This takes me out of work for several days, including completely missing the point of the trip. If this ban is extended, I will consider joining the crowd of people who by principle don't travel to US.
(an additional nuisance is the need to check bags, that often extends the duration of the trip by good half an hour; not mentioning how additional inconvenience at entry point on connecting flights).

LN-RKP appears to be a real workhorse!
