Well... I always thought I would feel silly, buying a coupon from Ebay...
BUT, I have my $125 coupon from Chase on my wall here,
staring at me....
to remind me to do this next month.

So actually, spending the 99 cents for +$75 could be the right stuff...

I have trouble generating direct deposits...
but, as last year, I see there is a qualifying option
to just park $5K there for 6 months.

That is 8% annual rate.
I have usually done one of these every year,
last year I think I settled for $150/6 mo.

I suggest Fidelity followed by BD. You can do citigold account in parallel. It doesn't require much balance.
Why delta miles from fidelity instead if UA or AA miles?
Why in the world would anyone want 200k Skypesos over 240,000 AA miles? mind blown

I can't even find 1 flight to Asia under 290,000 points. I can get that for about 75,000 AA

The fee is $12.00 per month--at least that's what I'm paying.

It's a nifty production of 240k AAdvantage miles per year. First $200k balance generates 100 mi/month per $1000 balance. Balance above $200k generates a measely 25 mi/month.

I don't see how the Fidelity/Delta deal can even compare. The 100k Skypesos is one time only. It's not a continuous cash-cow-production like BankDirect is.

I still have a grandfathered Guaranty Bank account (now BBVA) that is still pumping out 60 AA mi/month per $1000 balance, with no fees.

The CitiGold promo (CY4Y promo code) ended in October of last year. Not sure why its being mentioned here.

Certainly it might come around again, but it doesn't appear they are offering anything now.

The Fidelity and BD offers are still out there.

I've churned the Citi miles promo multiple times and have never received any 1099 forms for getting the miles.
Besides, I think Citi discontinued late last year the AA mileage offers for their checking/savings accounts.

I just booked 2 RTs to Asia with a stopover in HKG in Business for 240K total ... the Delta forum is always willing to help out.

Looks like SpankyToes is correct. Looks like CYFM works for the moment. Same deal as before. Worth doing in my opinion. Just got the miles myself, though I did have to SM CitiBank.

Doesn't Citi issues 1099 for the bonus points when checking account?

The CitiGold isn't worth it for most, but did you get the info on the card application? It's been about 2 months since the last 50k Citi Premier application died.

Yep. And the good bonuses require checking accounts with massive minimum balance requirements.

Important Tax Information:... the value of the rewards from redeemed points received from checking offer may be reported to IRS as miscellaneous income on form 1099-misc in the year redeemed, if the value of the rewards plus other taxable miscellaneous income awards received from citibank N.A. is in the aggregate $600 or greater for a calendar year, as required by applicable law. Customer is responsible for any applicable taxes.

I do not see any balance requirements, only other requirements for the citiGold checking account bonus is 1) 1 direct deposit and 2) 1 bill pay for 2 months after account opening.

Reading thru all the fine print and the terms and conditions, there is no other requirements for the TY card except the spend requirement
