JW Marriott Frankfurt, Germany [Master Thread]

I need to stay in Frankfurt a night before a return flight to the US and thinking of trying out the new JW (previous Jumeirah). Anyone stayed there yet? Feedback on elite treatment? Currently have the Roomers booked on a 35k cert for the night and JW would only require another 7k in addition to the 35k cert so trying to figure out if it's worth it. I've never stayed at either of the two hotels and definitely want to try them both out, since I typically stay at the the Westin or the LeM when I want to be in FRA City.

UPDATE: I did NOT title this as the Master Thread for the property....the Mods changed my original thread title to this. Likely reason is that there is no master thread on the property yet but I didn't want to label it as such since I had no input on the property.

My only advice is - if you end up at Roomers - to ask reception to get a room at a high floor so you don't have to listen to the music of the bar until 2am (big beats). So avoid floor 1. Also I assume the design isn't for everyone - it's rather dark in there. The breakfast is sensational though (at least it was pre covid).

I had a two night stay at the JW last week.

Location is excellent.

Still very much felt like a Jumeirah in terms of room design, towels, etc. Not that that is a bad thing. But they really have only started the transition to a JW. For example, while they offer laundry service, they do not have printed forms because the JW ones haven't arrived yet. Also no room service menus in rooms, even though room service is offered.

As a Titanium, I was upgraded to a junior suite on a high floor. Breakfast was included, which I could either take in the first floor restaurant or as room service. I did not have breakfast either day.

Ben Schlappig, when he reviewed the property as a Jumeirah, thought the rooms were uninspired and in need of a renovation. I thought the condition of my room was perfectly fine.

One last comment, while I know it is a common thing in Germany, I was surprised that the king bed was actually two twins pushed together such that there was a gap in the middle of the bed. Each mattress had its own fitted sheet and duvet, so it really wasn't set up as a king bed. Again, I know this is common in Germany, but I was surprised to see it at a luxury hotel.

I ended up staying at the JW and had an experience similar to that posted above by PresRDC My LT Titanium upgrade was to a Panoramic Suite. I overall really liked the property and my only gripe would be actually finding the hotel is a bit difficult. I had a car that I needed to park and that was a challenge even with a Nav and me being a German speaker. To save others the confusion, if you want to valet you will need to find the hotel (which sits behind another building) and go down a small driveway to pull up in front of the hotel. (the hotel is not in plain view from the street due to it sitting behind another building) If you want to self park, there is a garage entrance in the large building between the JW building and the building that houses the Moxy and Residence Inn....the garage is called something like the MyZiel garage. When you pull in, park on the first lower level you will get to after entering the garage. There are a couple of signs that say "Hotel" on them that you will need to find and follow. Overall it was really confusing and I even had to ask the guys detailing cars in the parking garage.

I would stay at the hotel again without hesitation, for those hoping to use 35k certs + points....I would not get your hopes up because every time I have checked the hotel since my stay it's been well over 50k. I was just trying to book it for a one night pre-return flight y in September and it's coming up at 59k for the night.

Here some pics of my suite:

Does anyone know an email address to reach the JW Marriott Frankfurt? Usually I can find some type of email online but not seeing anything for this property.

Have a few room questions I want to ask before booking... (1) for my dates only King rooms are showing - want to confirm they have rooms with twin/two beds or that a King room can be split into two twins and (2) ask what SNA eligible rooms still have a connecting room option as I plan to book 2 rooms with a connecting room request - but then try and use SNAs on one of them. This will be 3 days mid-week between Christmas and New Year's, so I think it will be pretty off season/not too busy for central Frankfurt.

dbuckho Connecting rooms is not common in Europe and I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t have any but you never know. I can’t help with an email address but why not just call the hotel and inquire or reach out to the Platinum line and get them to inquire?

If a hotel is a modern build - i.e. built in the past 20 years - then it generally has connecting rooms, even in Europe. There were some 3rd party fact sheets online (i.e. meeting organizer one sheets) for both the Jumeirah and JW that said as much. Just a question of what connects to what? Since the JW was originally built with at least some focus on Middle Eastern clientele, and built relatively recently, I would actually be surprised if the JW doesn't have a floor or two where you can put 4 or even 8 rooms behind single key card access.

In terms of email vs. calling -- you never know who is answering the phone when you call. Even if you get a manager who does room allocation, will they still be there months from now when you actually stay? Much better with something like this to exchange the information in writing. With a foreign country it also helps with any language issues (though in this case I am sure the employees at the JW Frankfurt speak more proper English than I do) and makes it easier to follow-up on later -- i.e. you can just reply to the email thread with all the history..

Lurker - thanks. Earlier today I did actually call the hotel to ask for an email -- received the reservations email as well - and they promptly responded when I sent them an email with my questions. They said all of their rooms are double beds, but the Junior Suites provide separate mattresses with separate sheets and duvets as a second bed option - though also a Junior Suite has a sofa bed which can be used as a second bed for our kids as well. Also the deluxe rooms can connect to other deluxe rooms, or a junior suite can connect to a Deluxe room.

I sent a question back to clarify if any of the other room types - i.e. a Skyline Junior Suite - also have connecting options. But their responsiveness along with having a 50 off second room rate (plus the info shared by you all in this thread) was enough for me to make my reservations and choose the JW over the nearby Hilton for this trip. Seems like the JW will provide an overall better experience with potential upside if SNAs clear on one of my rooms.

I lived in Europe for nearly half my life and travel there frequently and I honestly cannot remember a single room that I have stayed in that had a connecting door even as a modern build. Glad it worked out for you.

Any recent stays here? Did the hotel get a refresh or renovation? I have an upcoming stay here in November and was trying to decide between here or the roomers

I stayed there for 3 nights last October and was pleasantly surprised. I was upgraded to a junior suite, which was spacious and laid out well. I didn't have time to check out the amenities, but I had room service for a few breakfasts and one dinner. It was better than average. The front desk personnel and concierge were very helpful, and the location was really convenient. I would return.

No.....If there was I was not told about it as a LTT. Only Marriott group hotel I have stayed at in FRA that had a lounge was the Westin and I wasn't impressed. Honestly I do not get the appeal of lounges and picking properties based on if they have a lounge. Elite breakfast in the restaurants are so much better and for lunch and dinner I wouldn't even think of eating in a lounge when there are so many interesting options outside of the hotels. In Frankfurt, I would much rather pick up a Bratwurst and Brötchen at a stand in the pedestrian zone than eat anything in a lounge.

Stayed here a night with family in Sept 23.

Location is excellent and the best you can get from a Marriott in FRA. Close to SBahn station Hauptwache for the airport and walking distance to banks, the river, etc.

The property can’t deny its heritage so could also be easily in Dubai based on interior.

Staff is friendly but check in took 20min as my suite wasn’t finally checked (seemed the previous guest returned to the room as he had forgotten something). Got me another room.

Breakfast selection is ok. Ordered a coffee which was never served, but only a minor issue.

Upgraded to Junior Suite via app as LT Plat. King bed - two separate beds together.

Maybe not top notch service but will definitely come back, now m number one choice in FRA.

I think some of the desire for a lounge is based on the free booze in the PM

Always enjoyed a beer in the old Marriott lounge overlooking the train station with a view almost to the airport - sadly the M Club is now a windowless bunker on the ground floor...
