It's been a few years since I was there, but one reason I chose the Westin Chosun is that they were the only hotel that had (in their upper class rooms) a free to use Korean mobile phone. This was great because the Korean mobile system was unlike the rest of the world. I'm not sure if that's still the case though. But the hotel itself is very nice and very centrally located.

Phone wise, it shouldn't be an issue anymore. As long as your phone supports HSPA+, you should be fine in both Korea and Japan.

It was recommended by FS Tokyo as being in the most central location for general tourism. Same recommendation as made by other FT posts.
From what I've read, some of the other Seoul hotels took some effort to get to public transportation lines. Not that we mind that, but it may not be ideal in late November.

It is central, but a higher end hotel in that area is the Lotte, which is less than 5 minutes walking from the Westin. The Westin is fine as long as you end up in a suite or executive room, but the Lotte would be better.

No idea when I last posted here, but next trips planned are:
New Year: Geilo, Norway (not luxury)
March: India
Amanbagh: 6 nights in pool villa (16th Aman)
Aman-i-Khas: 3 night tent (17th Aman)
Rambagh Palace, Jaipur: 3 nights historical suite
July/August:
Round trip Greece, mostly non luxury but ending with four nights Amanzoe in pool villa (18th Aman)
(and for those very observant readers: We considered going back to the US this summer and also Turkey, but ended up deciding on Greece. I also said quite loudly that there is a limit for how much I want to pay for a room at an Aman when hearing rates for summer, but considering the very cheap rates at some other hotels we will stay at during our trip, the average will be Ok )

I'm at La Samanna, St Martin, at the end of the week, before taking a quickie-cheapie Seabourn cruise. The cruise company's hotel, the Westin Dawn Beach, filled me with horror! I'm also hoping to take a look at the new Malliouhana on Anguilla.

Fall of 2014 has been very kind to us travelwise with several great weekend getaways (highlight being Rome where we stayed at the de Russie). We chose Namibia for our Christmas/NYE holidays this year:
- Olive Exclusive
- Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
- Damaraland Camp
- Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp
Unfortunately we weren't able to get into Little Kulala (even though we booked 5 months in advance!) and Sera Cafema was dropped in favour of the newly opened Hoanib Skeleton Coast due to the range of available activities.

Envious, having been to Amanjiwo (tied with Singita Boulders as favorite hotel experiences in the world for us) and the Upper House (one of our favorite city hotels ever, very much like an Aman). You're going to love them, and I can't wait to hear what you think of Maalifushi!
