My wife wants the direct flight from Munich.

My wife, the little one and me in C (full fare) and the older ones in Y, total cost around 13000E - BA was cheaper but I bought them just to save my wife from hassle.

I just called the hon circle hotline to arrange for the seats, they want 170E bucks on top for the seat reservation. New rule since a month, as the 15 and 17 year old are in a different compartment, they do not count as companions.

Seriously LH, I am laughing out loud.

This is penny wise and pound foolish.
Appalling customer & HON service

HON service, IMHO is getting worse by the day

I had expected Mr Spohr had told his staff what he wanted before he sent his letter out, if so they are not listening to him....

Children used to be allowed into lounge, period, enhanced to under 18 by Dr F
You should be fine with yours, unless there has been a further enhancement, do let us know ?

The lounge access rules clearly state access to LH lounges is allowed:

Miles & More HON Circle Member Card
One companion plus spouse / partner plus children under the age of 18
You can even take one additional person who is not a member of the family.

I wouldn't even know where the FCL in ZRH is.

The SEN lounge does apply the "same class of service" and "same flight #" and "true companion" rule to those of us who enter the SEN lair.

Yes & op clearly stated HON circle line does not even consider them travelling companions, what does he need to do to prove they are his children ? Birth certificate ? Name & address of midwife ?

Really & they must of course be on the same flight for FCL & again, proof required, lifelong acquaintance ? Certified by how many people ?

HON writing to LH on May 13 about old F from MUC to SFO and a request to change routing via FRA to get new F.

Answer from LH on June 4:

Dear Mr HON,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding booking HONHON.

We are truly sorry to hear of your disappointment about the first class on the flights booked. In regards to our general terms and conditions, the contract between airline and customer is not linked to a specific type of aircraft.
As you might have read on Lufthansa.com for operational reasons the aircraft type may change last minute and this includes the flights via Frankfurt.
Furthermore if you would like to change via Frankfurt your ticket is subject to the original fare conditions, we invite you to contact the Honor Circle line to rebook your ticket.

We understand that this response may not meet your expectations and remain with the best of regards.

Yours sincerely,

Lufthansa German Airlines
Customer Care Service

Timeliness, tone, grammar and overall empathy might be lacking in this case but he new Honor Circle line is definitely something to look forward to.

I also like the very smart comment about F from FRA to SFO being subject to change: How many A380 with old F are out there exactly? None? Mmh...

Given that even the General Manager for the UK was involved in this case, an extremely disappointing outcome.

Looks like there is still some work left for Mr Spohr.
That is disgustful! BA have recently started compensating their customers, all customers in fact with 50 000 Avios if they end up with the old product in First Class. Be it an award reservation, upgrade or a paid ticket. So once again this raises the question. Why do Lufthansa hate their customers?

No.
Last year a friend (HON) took me (SEN at that time) as a guest into FCL ZRH.
We were on different flights. My flight was delayed and I could stay longer in the lounge although my friend had to leave earlier.

Perhaps you can even get Premium Economy for some of those Y tickets.
I am sure of it.

C ticks are significantly cheaper than with LH, Premium Eco a bit more expensive, but its Premium Eco and the total is still below LH's price.

Is the grass greener there? I doubt it. I actually know it is not.

It's a transactional and emotional driven decision.

The only thing I am now curious about: LH's reply to my mail. But again. My expectations are next to nill.

This ^

Show them where it hurts. That's (unfortunately) the only place they might feel it.

Is the grass greener? No.
However, it's not worse.
Same same, but different - as my Thai friends would say.
BA C rocks btw compared to LH.
F is a different animal. Here LH rocks. ( as does CX, SQ, sometimes EK)

I am with Rambuster on his evaluation of products: C on BA is a very good product, while F is just a better C. Having said said, BA is a lot more generous with with upgrades if you usually fly C:

If you fly 3,500 TP (That's 10 German-USA returns in Club World), they give you one Gold-Upgrade-for-2 and two Gold-Upgrade-for-1. These vouchers upgrade all segments for a commercial ticket: SIN-LHR-MIA would get upgraded by one class for all four segments. In total you could upgrade 16 (!) segments from C to F.

Unfortunately, you'd already need PE in order to be upgraded to CW .
