I have 2 seats on the MAD-BOS A330-300. Since I'd like a window, with this configuration it means choosing something like 4A 5C to seat us close. From looking at photos though and reading some comments here, the Cs and Js seem to leave you fairly exposed to people brushing by you in the aisle.
Since it's only a daytime flight, how bad is this really?
Thank you!

I'd booked EZE-MAD last year when it showed as a 345, but about two months ago it switched to a 342. I begged and pleaded, and IB finally took pity on me and moved me to the day before, a 345. When they did, only center seats were open. Two days before the new flight, I got an EF alert that a window seat had opened up, so I grabbed it. When I checked in at 24 hours out, I'd been moved to a C seat. I checked later and I'd been moved again, to a different C seat. No window seats open. At the airport, the check-in agent said "It looks like you've been in every seat in the cabin!" but couldn't explain why my seat kept changing. I flew in a C seat.
From my experience, I'd say that this is a nice configuration if you are in a window seat, but sucky if in an aisle seat as I was (even worse to be in a center seat if not seated next to someone you know). Very narrow seats, very narrow aisles. I got hit by the every cart every time, even though I tried hard not to let any part me intrude into the aisle (which is hard to do). I was brushed by every person who walked up or down the aisle, all flight, which made sleep difficult. IB does a very slow meal service, 4.5 hours from takeoff and it was still not done (they'd served the main but not cleared it).

My IB6253 to JFK in November has now had an aircraft change it seems to be the new business plus seats though with the aisles and windows reversed to the A330 I think.. Fingers crossed it doesn't change.

That's odd, but it has been reported before in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/26156976-post444.html
There should be no A340-600 left with the old cabins, but if look at the seat map for IB6250 on June 10 on ExpertFlyer it shows the old layout (but calls it A345, which is inconsistent). I would agree with LupineChemist that it's probably some weird error. I guess you will have to wait one or two months and reassess.
In any case, except for the IFE with few movies, the old cabin in J is comfortable for a couple, so I wouldn't worry.

Probably a lag which is why it is showing 345, IB and AA use different systems. If you have those seats and EF is showing 2-2-2, then it's very likely to be a 343. However, Google Flights shows it as having wifi... which the 343s don't have.

Not sure if this is correct but it seems like only 5 A340-300 are still in use
EC-GJT (Rosa Chacel)
EC-GLE (Concepción Arenal)
EC-GUQ (Beatriz Galindo)
EC-HGV (María Guerrero)
EC-GUP (Agustina de Aragón)
The rest have either been retired or taken over by other Airlines:
Aerolíneas Argentinas, South African Airways, Philippine Airlines

Isn't that the truth. I got EC-GUQ coming back from JFK last month. I was in Y so I wasn't paying attention to seat maps too much and let out an audible sigh as I enter. The FA next to me heard and just said "yeah....I know"

I just booked MIA to MAD for March 3, 2017 and it says The seat map is not available for this flight. (8703 [100]). Is that because it is too far in the future to book? Also, anyone have experience with choosing a different meal besides the standard?

I flew MAD-GIG in December and had the new 1-2-1 configuration both ways so assumed it was safe to book them again for next week. I just did my seat selection and the seat map for outbound and return is a 2-2-2 configuration, like Soviet airliners in the 1970s.
They said it's a 343, checkmytrip says it's a 342.
Are they still flying planes like this or is it just the seatmap is wrong? Please tell me the seatmap is wrong.

I purchased a ticket MAD-LAX for October on a 332 in business class. I now see that it has been switched to a 345 and my seat reassigned, but lately that route has been switched at the last minute to a 342 most days, so I am not hopeful.

I just checked flight 6250 seat assignments and we now have seats 8J and 9L. Looks like we actually have a new cabin!

I hope not.
I flew last December between NY and Madrid with Mrs m4l and we had the new configuration.
On the other side, I booked an award ticket from Mad to Santo Domingo in March. At the time of booking it was 2-2-2, but when I flew, in May, it was the new configuration.
Good luck!
