Baha Mar to open by the end of the year according to press release:
"Prime Minister Perry Christie announced late Monday that China Construction will finish the Baha Mar project with financing from the Export-Import Bank of China. The complex will then be sold to a “world class” hotel and casino operator, he said.
Construction would resume in September and the project will open before the end of the 2016-2017 tourist season, Christie said in a nationally televised address that followed Supreme Court approved of the agreement. He did not identify any potential operators.
“This agreement represents a signal achievement for the Bahamas, and a milestone in the troubled history of Baha Mar,” he said.

Slim chance of it happening before the end of 2016. If you've seen the project, there's no way they can finish all that needs to be done in 4 months. But they do have elections in May '17 so they'll really want the loose ends to be tied by then.

To be fair - the 2016-2017 tourist season ends in ~April 2017. Which seems to line up with your suggestion of "by May '17".

Bahamar sold to Hong Kong company, which is in talks with Hyatt to operated one the hotels.
First phase would open in April 2017.... let's hope so...

So Hyatt.com has been updated and search for hotels is structured by region... as per this new site, the Bahamar is "coming soon", so they really seem to be in final talks...
