Hmm; considered.
NZ over EK A380 back.
Have relatives to catch up so I had better make some inquiries, they replied and said no worries.

Tough decision to make. That would make 3 flying commitments in May for me (this do, OzFest and AKL-SIN run), plus having to go to NZ twice!
But it is very tempting - it's not often that one flies with so many other people that you know.

Oh dear, too tempting.
I'm booked:
Quote:
Saturday 9 May
0830 1145 WLG dom lounge
1200 1300 WLG-AKL QF2714 734
1300 1515 AKL dom lounge
1530 1650 AKL-CHC QF2769 734
1650 1715 CHC dom lounge

Plus the usual dinner and drinks in Auckland in the evening.
Sunday 10 May
1200 1300 AKL-WLG NZ429
Regrettably, need to make a noon departure to ensure I see the family over the weekend at some stage! Grateful for any thoughts on accommodation options....
And I forgot that I can't make a seat allocation until 24hrs before (?). I hope my lowly QC Bronze status means that I'm not seated too far down the back of the bus....
Cheers, TK

Indeed as am I (and on exactly the same flights)
Had to negotiate someone to cover me at work (so should be ok but not 100%)
If folk are keen to come into town at WLG we could do brunch. Alternatively, depending on how many people, I could provide brunch at my place

Note that if any Oz residents are thinking of doing with with a QF award from the east coast, it costs just as many points to travel between SYD/MEL/BNE via AKL to WLG or from CHC on the flights in question (18K) as it does to go simply to AKL.
e.g. MEL-AKL-WLG, CHC-AKL-MEL.
You can then book WLG-AKL and AKL-CHC separately (note the specific AKL-CHC flight has no X availability)

While I can't spare a whole day to fly around the country aimlessly I've put into my diary to greet QF2705 and see off QF2714 if you know what I mean..

Excellent. I can see that I'm going to have to OLCI at T-24 hours exactly to get decent seats.
