Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare ORD Des Plaines

Have stayed a few times at this property as well as had family stay here.

Free Parking and shuttle to/from ORD.

Both a Hertz & Thrifty off terminal retal car facilities are ~1/4 mile from the property.

This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Allstate Arena (former Rosemont Horizon) where sports/concerts occur.

There are a number of restaurants nearby within walking distance:
Longhorn Steakhouse is adjacent to the Radisson, across the street/nearby are: Chili's, Middle Eastern place, Culver's, Steak n Shake, Chipotle. I'm local to this area so if you want non-chain places or are looking for ethnic, just shoot me a PM.

Room/hallways are fresh, I expected them to be very tired, guess that is my brand impression of Radisson. Bed/linens were comfortable.

This hotel is not as convenient as some of the other hotels to public transportation (namely the Blue Line L (CTA train line that runs from ORD-Chicago downtown)) www.transitchicago.com/blueline/

Outdoor pool is nice during our warm months here in Chicago.

My wife will be staying there on June. I hear it is also close to Rivers Casino, if I'm correct.

about 2 miles away. While the Radisson doesn't offer shuttle service, Rivers Casino does offer a free shuttle service that runs from ~4pm to ~2am, hotel front desk can put you in touch.

We just stayed here This past Friday

I almost forgot we had a stay here, but managed to check in around 7pm or so. This weekend is my wife turn to do her CC MR. Upon check in she was thanked for being CC member, and also thanked for her business. Check in was very prompt and quick. There are several signage for the promotion, and to get people to sing up for Club Carlson.

This is 4 story hotel. The hotel is old, but it has been taken good care of. It is certainly not run down, and as the OP mentioned, there are several restaurants nearby, along with a Target. THe halways carpet reminds me the carpets in Las Vegas with their dark and loud colors, certainly not my type.

Our room was on the 3rd floor, with a balcony overlooking the swiming pool. The room was average in size, we asked for 2 queen beds. The a/c was already turned on in the room, which is great as Chicago tenmperatures that day where almost in the 100, the room was nice and cool. As I entered the room, I noticed a couple of flaws, first of it seems that it was not vaccumed, or maybe the vaccum cleaner that they used has no suction, as I found a popcorn laying on the floor, and a plastic tag, the kind that pants and shirts have when the price is "stiched" to them. My other probelm was with the toilet, as I noticed that it was clogged and overflowed in the bathroom when flushed. Maintenance and housekeeping came immediately, fixed, cleaned the problem and apologize for the inconvenience. I tried getting another room, but they did not have another non smoking 2 bedroom available, so I keep it. It was busy that night, as it seems that this hotel serves the flight crew rest for some airlines, Lot Polish. Room was quiet, eventhough it was storming out last night. THe bed is the sleep comfort type, we love those bed, we have them at home, except ours also have the adjustable bedframe and dual control.

Overall it was an ok stay, you can do better at other hotels, but you will pay for it too. We used cash and points and felt that the price was very reasonable for the area. We did not had a chance to try the pool, wireless internet is free and was fast, every floor has a soda vending machine and a ice machine. There is a free computer and printer loungue in the lobby.

The hotel overall is average, nothing out of the ordinary. Saturday morning the hotel bill was slipped thorugh the door and it was accurate, no complaints. We immediately left the room at 11:00am and my wife stop by the front desk to inform them that we were checking out. She was thanked for her business and again the hotel staff apologized for the incovenience.

On a Christmas bump on UA a few years ago, UA put us in this hotel. Like the previous posters mentioned, it was not too bad. The only criticism I have was it was a long ride from ORD to/from the hotel. Didn't know at the time. The sleep number beds were nice.

UA gave us some meal vouchers & we combined them and ate at the hotel restaurant. Food was pretty decent (at the time) and moderate in price.

The next time I got stuck at ORD, I specified a hotel closer to the airport. It was due to weather & on an UA award. I had to pay trhe distressed rate. The ORD Westin was alot closer and only <$5 more. The ORD Hilton was about triple the Westin rate.

Had a stay here last weekend. Very nice at desk, thanked me for being a member. (I think) I was upgraded to a room on the 4th floor with a microwave and refrigerator. I was more concerned about getting a room away from the elevator, which he said was no problem. Had a good night sleep...very comfortable bed, no noise issues. Wifi was fine.

Best thing turned out to be the timing of my reservation. I live about 30 minutes away. We had strong storms in my area which knocked out our power for 24 hours. So instead of being home in 100 degree heat and no power, I was sitting in a nice room with air conditioning! Really lucky how that turned out!

Booked for a night last week just in time for the 50k promotion. Not quite a good feeling actually or maybe I just expected too much. Checked-in around 7:30pm, there were 3 staffs in the front desk but still busy. No recognition of Gold status. Asked if any upgrade were available and replied "yes, you've been upgraded", however, the room type turned out to be the one I booked (king w/ couch). So just stayed for an hour, finished dinner in the room then left. Wifi signal was ok and that's about it.

Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare ORD Des Plaines

I work nearby and we put visitors up in this hotel and have not heard any complaints. The attached Longhorn restaurant is pretty good; we eat there for lunch often enough.

The OP mentioned public transportation; while it is a distance from the Blue Line train to downtown, at the corner you can catch the PACE Bus route 221 to take you to the Blue Line or the route 250 to the Metra stations for trains into Chicago or out to various suburbs. (http://www.pacebus.com/; http://metrarail.com/)

If you are driving it is close enough to various access ramps of the nearby toll roads.

Another nearby (~1/4 mile) amenity is Lake Opeka with sailboats to rent, a 9-hole par-3 public golf course, sand volleyball courts and paths around the park. Very nice recreation area.

Hotel Review: Radisson O'Hare- Chicago

On our brief visit to Chicago, my brother and I decided to stay at the Radisson O'Hare.
I rarely stay at airport hotels but decided to do so for a couple of reasons.

The early start of the O'Hare 5K runway run
The Radisson 1 for 1 promotion

With the Radisson promotion my brother and I each earned one free night for booking a night. To make this offer work for both of us, we each booked one night of the stay.

My first impression of the Radisson O'Hare (from the exterior) was that it looked old, shabby and dated. It actually reminded me of the Alamo just not as cool. However looks are not so important as long as the room is decent. Overall we were happy with our stay due to it suiting our needs for the visit. We didn't use the common spaces in the hotel but there was a sitting area and small bar.

During our stay we had to switch rooms due to a little issue. The hotel handled our problem professionally and we were happy with our stay. Besides resolving our issue, there was another positive to switching rooms- No Sleep Number Beds!!! The negative to switching was the ridiculously long walk to get to our room.

We booked a room with two double beds which cost $98.31 per night (including tax).
The original price was in the $130 range but thanks to a code we found our rate was lowered a bit. The room was a pretty good size and the beds were very comfortable.

The bathroom was a decent size, probably average for this type of hotel. It was clean and the shower had good water pressure. A problem I found was that it was hard to adjust the shower to a comfortable temperature.

The bathroom in the first room had a nice selection of bath products. I think this was due to our gold status with Club Carlson. In our next room the setup wasn't as nice.

The room also had a good size, flat screen TV. We never had a chance to turn it on due to being so busy during our visit to Chicago.

There was also a work area which I did not get a chance to use.

My brother and I each received an In-Room Welcome Gift (also a perk of Gold status).
During stays at other Club Carlson properties I failed to receive my welcome gift but at the Radisson O'Hare it was waiting in the room. The gift was very nice. It was a bag filled with some candy, chips, nutri-grain bar and bottle of water.

Overall our stay at the Radisson O'Hare was a positive one. It wasn't the most amazing place that I've ever stayed but it worked out well for our short visit.

That's exactly why we stayed here during our visit to Chicago for the O'Hare 5K Runway Run!

However, the last day to book a room for the promo was yesterday!
I had to cancel my reservation for Saturday and rebook for early December due to the destruction of Sandy.

$110 is the stay n fly rate, where one gets a single night's lodging and up to 9 days free parking.
Anyone use this option before?

FYI, update on ORD O'Hare airport shuttle: first shuttle departs hotel at 4am, last shuttle departs hotel at 12:30am
