We just stayed here This past Friday
I almost forgot we had a stay here, but managed to check in around 7pm or so. This weekend is my wife turn to do her CC MR. Upon check in she was thanked for being CC member, and also thanked for her business. Check in was very prompt and quick. There are several signage for the promotion, and to get people to sing up for Club Carlson.
This is 4 story hotel. The hotel is old, but it has been taken good care of. It is certainly not run down, and as the OP mentioned, there are several restaurants nearby, along with a Target. THe halways carpet reminds me the carpets in Las Vegas with their dark and loud colors, certainly not my type.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, with a balcony overlooking the swiming pool. The room was average in size, we asked for 2 queen beds. The a/c was already turned on in the room, which is great as Chicago tenmperatures that day where almost in the 100, the room was nice and cool. As I entered the room, I noticed a couple of flaws, first of it seems that it was not vaccumed, or maybe the vaccum cleaner that they used has no suction, as I found a popcorn laying on the floor, and a plastic tag, the kind that pants and shirts have when the price is "stiched" to them. My other probelm was with the toilet, as I noticed that it was clogged and overflowed in the bathroom when flushed. Maintenance and housekeeping came immediately, fixed, cleaned the problem and apologize for the inconvenience. I tried getting another room, but they did not have another non smoking 2 bedroom available, so I keep it. It was busy that night, as it seems that this hotel serves the flight crew rest for some airlines, Lot Polish. Room was quiet, eventhough it was storming out last night. THe bed is the sleep comfort type, we love those bed, we have them at home, except ours also have the adjustable bedframe and dual control.
Overall it was an ok stay, you can do better at other hotels, but you will pay for it too. We used cash and points and felt that the price was very reasonable for the area. We did not had a chance to try the pool, wireless internet is free and was fast, every floor has a soda vending machine and a ice machine. There is a free computer and printer loungue in the lobby.
The hotel overall is average, nothing out of the ordinary. Saturday morning the hotel bill was slipped thorugh the door and it was accurate, no complaints. We immediately left the room at 11:00am and my wife stop by the front desk to inform them that we were checking out. She was thanked for her business and again the hotel staff apologized for the incovenience.
