Does anyone know of any open hotels in San Juan
We are leaving out of San Juan on a cruise next Saturday. The cruise is not cancelled and neither are the flights. We are flying in Friday night and trying to find a place to stay. Does anyone know of any hotels that are open in the area?

I cant comment on what hotel is open, but I suggest you call the Sheraton in Old San Juan, 787-721-5100, it is right across the street from the port. You can google its location, and then search for other nearby hotels. You might luck out as some might decide to leave early, but on the flip side, you have no idea if the hotel is operating with back up power. Most likely, I guess that brand name hotels might have back up generator power, as opposed to independent ones. Another thing to consider is transportation from the airport to hotel.
Good luck.
Good luck.

San Juan Airport Hotel
I am also booked into San Juan for one night at the SJ Airport hotel on 11/29. Their phone lines are down, as are the lines for the Sheraton, mentioned above. The airport website is still showing lots of cancelations for arrivals and departures. Hope that someone can post hotel information when they have it. I'd like to bring food and supplies with me to share.

Just an FYI, the Sheraton Old San Juan is only across the street from the pier Carnival uses. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity use the Pan American Pier across the harbor for cruises departing from San Juan (they use the OSJ piers for day stops only) which is across the harbor and closer to the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino.

I believe both Carnival and RC cancelled their cruises out of San Juan this week. And the flights this week will likely be cancelled too.

Most hotels are not accepting new reservation in October:

RCCL has cancelled next week's cruise as well.
If you know of anyone that needs to evacuate, Royal Caribbean is going to be using that ship to evacuate people from St. Thomas and San Juan this week.
They need to email [email protected]
Have them email copy of US passport or proper visa information that allows them into the US.
Departure from San Juan is September 28
St. Thomas September 30
The ship will drop them off in Ft. Lauderdale Oct 3rd.
The deadline to apply is noon today.

I have a reservation for the Condado Hilton San Juan on December 16-17. I just got this email:
Hi Charles,
We are sending you this email in regards to your upcoming reservation at The Condado Plaza Hilton under confirmation number xxx.
Unfortunately, The Condado Plaza Hilton was directly affected by Hurricane Maria last month. As we continue to work towards recovery, the hotel is not accepting arrivals or new reservations at this time. Regretfully, we are unable to honor your existing reservation.

I visited SJU this past weekend to check on my property. As mentioned before some hotels remain closed due to damages received, others are open, but currently housing FEMA employees, press and the like. I was not there long enough to check, but at the time there was no idea when hotels will be open to the general public. At the time of my visit, I noticed that the Isla Verde area has power and water. Not sure on Condado area, or inland. Grocery stores are open and you can get supplies. Some restaurants are open as well. This is just from what I saw in the San Juan metro area.
