** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

You've missed the TLL opportunity, so I think sensibly priced is not really possible.

Are there any options that are both sensibly priced and logistically possible?

Many thanks!
I think at such short notice and for that amount of TPs you really might struggle to find something cheap. Have a look at the short haul + routes (see post #1) and whether any of those are available at a reasonable price to get you at least 160. You would still be short though so perhaps a run to JER or AMS is needed as well.

Have found how to get 190 TPs on a bargain DXB overnight, however it is possible to get 15 TP next weekend for around £100 and no overnight. Close to London starting. Is this possible!?

LGW > JER > LGW available for around £135 with outbound in L class, inbound in O. Book as 2 x one-way tickets to avoid Saturday night stay.

Isn't this a case for the JER-LGW|LHR-DXB-LHR fare in WTP? That gets you to 220 for <£500 and could be done with one night in Dubai. Availability may be difficult and the two-week extension won't be there, but it's worth a look for the first weekend in February.

Yes, that may be the answer for the OP.

Thanks for your pointer Pilot37 have decided to take positioning to DUB in CE with a long off return in Y and throwing some Avios at it is £117. This will be used when the big exDUB HNL fares appear over July / Aug

Hi all. Has anyone been to LIR (Liberia, Costa Rica) and done a same day return? It's pricing something close to what PTY TP runs were last year. I make it 720TPs for £625. Probably a few more sectors may be added.

Very good spot - plenty of possibilities here. I think the 16 sector marathon will be possible - unlimited transfers (max 16 sectors on ticket), but not available on the A321 LAX/SFO-JFK, as expected.

Edit - 840 TPs for ~£660 as far as I can see.

For any golds looking for cheap TP's WTP ex-UK, JER and INV have some nice options, when used

INV-LHR-JFK(or DXB)-LHR-INV is around £495. If you do it before the end of March with 3x Avios as a Gold, you earn around 32K avios. Then if you add avios part pay, which is awful vaule at 40,000 for £264 off.

Your total net cost is £231 and 8K of avios for a total of 220TP's or £1.05 per TP.

Good find. Will be interesting to see what xenole and rossmacd work out with this one lol. I did the Panama run last year and quite enjoyed it.

i didn't try pricing it but since a ow is half the price of a rt can't you do 2 separate tickets of 16-sector marathons for a total of 740 per direction?

Ok, so I've tried to search and just confused myself more! Please don't be too angry with me though if this has already been answered!

Like others I'm booked on the QR "Sake Fare" in November. I also have a couple of AA domestic sectors in May, so all I need for silver is the 4 BA eligible flights.

So - does a BA codeshare operated by Vueling count as "eligible"? Be much easier for me to do a couple of weekend trips from BHX or MAN than make my way down to LHR or LGW!

Yes, VY (or indeed any operator) booked under the BA codeshare counts.

http://www.britishairways.com/travel...s/public/en_gb

Eligible flights are defined as those flights marketed or operated by British Airways and those flights marketed and operated by Iberia.

-'Marketed' means the flight will have a BA flight number (in your itinerary or on your ticket).
-'Operated' means the aircraft that you travel on is a British Airways aircraft (including franchises and BACityflyer).
-'Marketed and operated by Iberia' means the flight will have an IB flight number and the aircraft you travel on is an Iberia aircraft (including franchises).

Reward bookings and agency or industry discounted bookings are not eligible.
