My reimbursement was for the full $200 all at once, even though I purchased 4 separate gift cards (it was all done in one transaction, however).

I used the platinum card to pay the tax and fees of 3 award ticket. $50 dollar was refunded to me for each ticket because of the dividend mile processing fee. Ordering gift cards seems to be a better solution so that I can put the award ticket charges on the gold charge card other than the platinum card, which give me more MR points.

Got a first class upgrade refunded
This is bizarre. I had $190 left to be reimbursed.
First flight, I upgraded to exit row (choice seat) for $89 at check-in. Didn't get credited for it. The charge detail online says "Document Type : UPGRADE CHARGE"
Second flight a week later, I upgraded to first class at check-in for $225. The charge detail online says: "Document Type : SPD/AIR FREIGHT" -- I got a credit for $190 two days later.
/not complaining
Now the mailing I got from Amex a few weeks ago clarifying what is credited said that upgrades are not eligible, but seat assignment fees are. So I guess a US choice seat is considered an upgrade and is even coded as such, but a first class paid upgrade is not an upgrade?!?!? I think it all boils down to how the "document type" is reported.

Plat $200 airline credit
Thepointsguy wrote in his blog that the $200 airline credit is based on calendar year so basically if you got the Plat in December 12 you can get a $200 credit and than in January you can get another $200 airline credit...is this true??????? if so it makes the Plat and unbelievable value as its basically free...also, can you use the credit towards the trial elite status with US Airways?
