When you purchase your Gift Cards, you may wish to do it through one of these links; a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the applicable charity:

http://hub.aa.com/en/ju/komen-gift-card

Or alternatively put in the code KOMEN when you check out

to donate $5/$50 GC to Susan G. Komen for the Cure;

http://hub.aa.com/en/ju/uso-gift-card to donate to the USO;

or to donate to UNCF:
http://hub.aa.com/en/ju/american-air...uncf-gift-card

NOTE: Online gift cards are sent immediately but are subject to a 72-hour hold before they can be used.

American Airlines Gift Cards are easy to redeem on AA.com. If you received a plastic gift card and you're ready to redeem your gift card, be sure to gently scratch off the grey film covering the four-digit PIN # on the back of the card. If you received a virtual card you may retrieve your Card # and PIN # by clicking on the link sent to you via email.

On the payment screen, enter both the Card # and PIN # exactly as they appear on the back of the gift card. You may use up to eight gift cards at one time. If the total price of the ticket exceeds the value of your gift card(s), you may use a credit card for any remaining balance.

The gift cards can only be used to purchase tickets, nothing else.

$200 airline fee reimbursement reports: AA only

Nice surprise this morning, Recently I purchased a flight on AA using an e-voucher issued by customer service for compensation due to mechanical delay, the balance paid on AMEX and on statement it was picked up as:

Ticket Number: 00123XXXX Date of Departure : 02XX
Document Type: ADDITIONAL COLLECTION

So I got the balance refunded.

In addition, I got refunded for fees/taxes on four one way awards on AA, paid the fees on Amex, statement is as follows:

TKT# XXXX
AMERICAN AIRLINES
From : To : Carrier : Class :
XX
O HARE FIELD IL AATM
Ticket Number : XXXX Date of Departure : XXXX
Passenger Name : XX
Document Type : PASSENGER TICKET
Doing Business As: AMERICAN AIRLINES E TKT
Merchant Address: P O BOX 582820-MD-766
TULSA
OK
74158
UNITED STATES
Reference Number: XX
XX
Category: Travel - Airline

So overall I got $200 back on fees that I thought did not qualify and was not even planning on getting reimbursed. Thanks AMEX.

Would charges for food at the Admirals Club apply for the rebate?

Oh really? When I asked the Amex CS rep, he said no. But then again, all that matters is what the computer flags it as, not as what any agent says.

I bought $200 of AA gift certificates ("G/C") on my platinum Amex, with AA as my chosen carrier for this benefit. It posted as the following. I'm worried now that this posted as "travel - Airline" and not as something else. I saw that others had the g/c applied to the $200 fee benefit.

Should I be worried?

You will know in just a day or two. I purchased 4 $50 AA electronic gift cards and Amex reimbursed me quickly. I've read some people haven't gotten reimbursed when purchased in larger than $50 increments, but YMMV

I bought $50 on Monday and charge was posted today (Wednesday). Still waiting...However, this is what the description showed:

Document Type : MISC. CHARGE ORDER (MCO)/PREPAID TICKET AUTH.

Is that what everyone got?
