AA International Business Class Meals...

I was reading an AA LHR-MIA trip report on airliners.net

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo...d.main/211928/

Not sure I've ever noticed the trans-Atlantic J meal presentation before. Does AA typically use the same first class domestic setup/plates for trans-Atlantic intl business class?

It's doesn't look very premium. What happened to the big round plates? Are those just for first class? I thought I've seen the nicer china on other AA business class trip reports.

It depends on the aircraft type: on 767, the business class has bigger, round plates and much nicer overall presentation, see it for yourself:

No Menu or PDB (purser said liquor cart was "locked")
Nuts - warmed
Greens salad with parmesan cheese and ranch
Choice of chicken with potatoes or cheese tortellini
Plated turtle cheesecake

virtually the exact same meal on the way down several days prior. service was horrible - purser and flight attendants quickly handed out drinks and meals in the first 45 minutes of flight then closed the curtains up front and watched movies on their laptops for the rest of the flight. not once did any of the flight attendants come through the cabin to refill waters during the flight. i had to push the call button 30 minutes prior to landing to get someone's attention.

I hope you wrote that up. Given how hard it is to fire union employees, the only fighting chance we have is for the FT community to pledge to always write up serious service problems.

AA 71 FRA-DFW Economy Meal 3/9

They serve it all at oncel.... much like Dine Upon Request in Biz or First only different. So for all those flying in the back, here is what you have to look forward to..

To Start:
Drink Service - Unlimited free Soft Drinks and Free Beer/Wine. Sampled the White which was an incredible recent vintage "Just Chardonnay" from France. Served in individual bottles and of course the well paired plastic vessel

Individual Sanitary Packaged Mini Nacho Cheese Flavored Crispy Things. An elegant accompaniment to the wine if I do say so..

1st Meal -
Salad and Apps:
Bed Freshly wilted lettuce with random veggies. Served with house personal "Thousand Island Dressing". Piquant and zesty at the same time.

French processed white cheese product in sanitary self serve package. The happy cow on the front confirms the quality of the cheese and when paired with the Table Crackers we have a contrasting crispy and creamy delight.

Freshly Packaged Individual Roll with Butter. Amazing that when removed from the packing the moistness quickly vanishes leaving you with bread reminiscent of the bakery products stored a bit to long in the cupboard.. crunchy goodness.

Main Course:
While tempted by the chicken with rice, chose the Pasta with Cheese in bright marinara sauce. Warmed to perfection with the slightly dry edges which suggested al dente without being overbearing. Salted to the level that even camels in the desert would appreciate.

To Finish:
Walkers Cookies - Ginger flavored - a scottish classic.

Pre-Arrival Snack:

More Fantastic White Wine... they say Just Chardonnay... I say delish.

Superb single serve deep dish pizza. Plenty of cheese and a soft crust of happy dough. Cooked to perfection and served with a smile.

7 Large Red Grapes -- Clearly imported from the finest vines.. also as a bonus you can take the seeds home and plant your own vineyard.

Commets: After browsing the previous menus for this late night flight, I was expecting a bit different kind of menu, with four dinner options, one being large cheese and fruit plate. However, this supper was not bad at all, I really liked the lighter option of dinner salad. The shrimps on the salad were big and juicy. Service in general was very nice, although pre-arrival beverage was not offered. Sorry for the blurry pics, it was very dark and bumpy!

LAX-PVG AA183 March 11 J

See FC menu in ORD-PVG above. Exact same mains and starter.

Cod was good if a bit on spicy side. Was to be served with a Lemon Aioli but never saw it.

Sesame chicken light meal quite nice

Never seem to be awake for the middle snack service. ; (

Chili Grilled Chicken w/risotto
Cod with Lemon Dill sauce

Well played, execplatscum! You have a way with words! Sounds exactly like my LHR-BOS gourmet experience except the pre-arrival snack was a ham sandwich with the same cheese & cracker combo plus some dried fruit bits and a KitKat bar.

We need more economy descriptions on this thread for us that fly in the back of the bus; but maybe FTers never fly less than J?
