-?- AZ: PHX Resort for/with the kids
We're looking at visiting family and spending spring break ('09) in AZ.
I'm looking for recommendations to resorts in/around PHX, or possibly TUS that has amenities for kids (ages 13 & 10).
I was wishful for something with waterslides/pools for the kids, spa for the wife, and golf for myself.
We've received some marketing emails from a Grand Arizona Resort (I believe that was the name).
If anyone has other recommendations I'd be appreciative.
Thanks

Yes, I believe there is very good place to stay at JW Desert Ridge Marriott. it was very huge swimming pools and etc, too. It is very closer to Marketplace on Deer Valley Rd & Tatum Blvd. Its much easier where you have more convenient to shopping & restaurant at Desert Ridge Marketplace. You can take on the bus route 44 or whenever you can take ride frees by shuttle bus. There will be transportations is provided to Scottsdale Fashion Square or whenever you decide go to Mall.
If you feels frees to please don't be hesitate me for more information in Phoenix Area.

Here are two places we have stayed that you might want to consider -
1) Sheraton Wild Horse Pass
Near Chandler about 10 miles south of PHX. Great water slide, horseback riding. Negatives - restaurants are on the expensive side and location is a bit far from anything else.

2) Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs. One big pool and numerous small ones spread around the property.

What is your price range (in dollars) per night, and do you have any hotel affiliations you'd like to keep (HHonors, Marriott, etc)?
Keep in mind that March/Spring Break is peak season here in the Phoenix area. What may go for $100/night in summer could easily go for $300-400/night in March.

I knows the waterparks won't be opened until end of May 2009. Its will be closed during the winter/spring seasonal 2009. Why you don't go to Mesa try to get onto the waterparks is more convenient for you. There is very good waterparks in Tempe or Mesa. You decide to choose in Tempe or Mesa. I'm sure your kids will enjoyable nice time at the waterparks.

I'm currently a HHDiamond but fuming mad (that would be an entirely different post)
I've just finished using up almost all my HHpoints from our 2+wk family vacation through NY, Penn, Mass.... and not entirely interested in supporting the HHfamily. Most of my movement is swinging towards Marriott for a change of pace.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations for hotels, and alternate waterpark options in/around Mesa/Tempe.

Hi,
The point hilton Squaw Peak is very good for children ( maybe better than Tapatio Cliffs)
The hotel was busy during the weekend but quiet during the week ( 5-14th sep)
The hotel has a lazy river and a waterslide as well as a 18 hole putting course around the pool and " fake Tombstone". The Tapatio Cliffs does not have the lazy river or the putting course.
In Tucson, the hilton El conquistador has a water slide.
Also in Tucson the JW Marriott Starr Pass has a water slide and lazy river but the restaurants are expensive and you have ot drive a while for other restaurants ( ie IHOP, Red Lobster etc)
Regards

I second the recommendation of the JW Desert Ridge Marriott, if the price doesn't scare you away. It has lovely pools and a lazy river for tubing, good fitness room, tennis courts, golf, Roy's Restaurant on premises. You do need a car, but that's true everywhere in PHX, right? Check the Marriott and other travel sites for package deals. (And if you are willing to sit through a timeshare pitch given on their premises for the adjacent Marriott Vacation Club property, you can get Marriott Reward points or some other gift)
The shopping center nearby has lots of fast food and teen friendly eating places, and a movie theater, if I remember correctly. And you can head up to Sedona for hiking, if your kids are into that.
In fact, you might want to see if rentals are available at the timeshare facility -- Marriott Vacation Club Canyon Ridge. 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, balconies -- if you don't mind do-it-yourself meals, it can save the hassle going out to restaurant every night with teenagers, and there is an Albertson's nearby and Trader Joe's 15 minutes away. The property has its own pools, bbq grills, fitness room. Use of the JW facilities may be available to renters - they are to owners.

Thanks....this information is very helpful.
It does appear we're closing in on the Club Canyon Ridge, gives everyone their own space, self-made meals are fine for most day ....I appreciate all the add-on tips.
