Keep in mind that March/Spring Break is peak season here in the Phoenix area. What may go for $100/night in summer could easily go for $300-400/night in March.
I know the hotel are very expensive for that. You should not considered to stay there. I think there is good place to stay at the hotel in between Phoenix or Scottsdale. I think there is very good place to stay at Camelback Inn on Lincoln Dr & Tatum Blvd. If you don't mind will try to place to stay at the hotel.
I knows the waterparks won't be opened until end of May 2009. Its will be closed during the winter/spring seasonal 2009. Why you don't go to Mesa try to get onto the waterparks is more convenient for you. There is very good waterparks in Tempe or Mesa. You decide to choose in Tempe or Mesa. I'm sure your kids will enjoyable nice time at the waterparks.
