Eligible velocity sectors

Working on achieving status with Velocity

Is a Eligible sector?

Virgin plane
Purchased on the Virgin website
Virgin flight number

To gain access to the airnz koru lounge should I

Buy the ticket meeting the above criteria

Use my airnz airpoints no
When in the lounge change to my velocity
It appears I need to two 2 eligible sectors for silver and 4 for gold

The SP seem easier on velocity to gain than Airnz airpoints

An eligible sector is where VA has sold you the ticket for a flight that has a VA flight number.

Doesn't have to actually be a VA plane nor is there a requirement to have purchased the ticket online. I do this all the time when flying to the US and travelling on VA flight numbers that are operated by DL.

Just to be clear, an "eligible" sector is segment travelled with a VA flight number that is eligible for Velocity Points/SC earn.

A VA flight number means the flight was "Marketed" by VA - the actual operating carrier does not matter in relation to this topic.

About Velocity Status | Velocity Frequent Flyer

*Eligible Sectors are the minimum amount of Virgin Australia marketed flights that you need to take in order to upgrade. View Membership Levels Terms and Conditions.

Could I use my airnz no on the sector then change to virgin when in the lounge (to gain access to the loinge)?

You want to credit an NZ-operated flight to VA but gain lounge access with NZ, right?

No problem. Just book it with a VA flight number and attach your Velocity number to the booking. Then simply show your NZ card at the NZ lounge and they'll let you in.

Until I get gold status with velocity I want to make sure I can access the airnz lounge

Will miss the Myers points thiugh as I don't believe the virgin website has this feature

Similar story to the OP: I'm keen to get Velocity Gold or Platinum with the flights I have over the next six months (I've requalified as NZ Elite and banked a year, so there's not much more to be gained by crediting flights to NZ Airpoints).

I'm due to be in Australia a bit over the next few months so I thought I'd take the opportunity to grab some of the 4/8 Virgin (marketed) flights I need to secure Gold/Platinum status.

The post I've quoted suggests it's no problem to credit NZ operated flights to Velocity and show a NZ Gold/Elite card to the NZ lounge operators to get access. However, what's the view on whether or not this would work for getting access to domestic VA lounges? Presumably VA lounge staff would be less familiar with NZ's programme/cards?

To be clear:
VA operated flight
Booked through VA
Crediting flight to VA (entering Velocity number at time of booking)
Seeking access to VA domestic lounge with NZ Elite card

Thanks!

Cannot see why it would be an issue to get access to lounge by showing the card

Marketed by VA or NZ? i.e Is it a VA or NZ flight number?
Who you booked through is irrelevant

VA flight number. Sorry I thought this would be evident from saying I was booking a VA domestic flight through VA.

Just continuing on this thread..

I'm wondering if I book a SYD-LST via MEL on VA using VA flight numbers (SYD-MEL;MEL-LST), will it considered as 2 eligible sectors?

As long as the flight numbers are different (or on separate days) then you should be fine.

A colleague of mine does this all the time while he's waiting to become Velocity Gold
