Hi,

For VS

J,D,Z: Upper Class
W: Full Fare Premium Economy
K: Discounted PE
Y (and all codes to the right of Y): various Economy Classes with Y being the fully flexible fare.
It does not tell you how oversold a class may be ( esp for economy but if it shows 0 then it is likely to be oversold?)

Regards
TBS

Right,

Its not the number of seats remaining at that code unless its 0 obviously

You could think of it as a percentage, its more to give an idea of availability in each fare bucket.

Fare code basis (Highest to lowest)

Upper Class
J - Highest (Full Fare and Fully Flexible, fully refundable)
D - APEX Fare (Somewhat flexible and will have advance purchase reqs)
Z - Lowest(Not very flexible, will have advance purchase reqs.)

Premium Economy
W - Full Fare Premium ticket (Full fare, fully flexible, fully refundable)
K - Apex Premium Ticket (Not very flexible)
H - Virgin Holidays only Premium Fare

Economy
Y - Full Fare Economy (Fully flexible, refundable etc)
B
L
M
Q
X - MegaSaver fare (normally instant purchase, not flexible and non refundable)
N - Student/Ultra MegaSaver fare (No flexibility at all, non reundable and no miles or tier points earned)

All above fare codes earn miles unless noted.

7 is the highest number that I've seen for VS flights. sometimes on the planes with smaller Upper Class cabins they max out at 4.

Thanks,
Richard

I just think we're all helpful to one another.

I know nothing about travel, my specialist subject is Microsoft Windows, not travel And trust me, knowing about an airline that can be learnt here on FT will not get you better service. Especially when they say 'Well I've been working here for x years and ....' and you knwo full well that they are lying; That is frustrating.

LHR Clubhouse on Friday from around 8am if anyones there. Arrivals lounge on Tuesday from around 10:30am.

Thanks,
Richard

Another thank you to all in this forum. Just got back from London yesterday and wanted to update all on my seat quest.

BOS-LHR
Arrived at Logan at 2:45 and there were about 25 people already there. My request for Bulkhead was granted and had a fine flight there. (Although another ticket agent told someone they couldn't have it as it was reserved for people traveling w/kids).

LHR-BOS
Arrived at Heathrow about 2 hours before flight. Was told by ticket agent one exit left (No good for 2 of us) and ALL Bulkhead seats to be given by gate agents b/c usually reserved for people w/ kids. Arrived at gate 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to departure and gate area not open and first people in line. Gate agent gave us Bulkhead seated next to woman with baby. Cramped for 4 four of us in the three seats. Also, plane not full. Told FA we would be willing to change with other open exit row or bulkhead to give woman more room (as other exit row and bulkhead were open). Was moved 2x and back again b/c these were ticketed seats and eventually after they realized we were just trying to help out the mother they threw us in premium economy. Needless to say, quite nice. (Oddly, one time we were moved to another bulkhead there was a guy about 25 who told the FA’s he had all three bulkhead seats blocked off and whatever he said worked and they let him stay there. He also slept on the floor the whole flight. Odd)

Thanks again all for the help,

cheers,
Chobby

Glad to hear you had 2 good flights.

Couple of things:-

The '25' guy will most likely have been a VS Gold member. I had the same on my flights this weekend, but I don't like those seats as the arms don't move! I got sections of 12 seats at the back, and had a good sleep!

Oops, forgot the second thing.
About the bulkhead's being reserved for families, maybe ,but if a Silver/Gold FC member would like them, they will get them.

Thanks,
Richard

I received my reward flight tickets, LHR-HKG, I used miles for Upper outbound and premium for my return, these show G class out and U class for return. I thought my tickets should have been Z and K ? Even more classes!

Hi Gus,

As you are travelling on a reward ticket (using miles)then the appropriate ticket codes are

G for Upper
U for Premium Economy

Z is one of the codes for paid Upper class ( discounted) and K is discounted PE ( as mentioned above)

Have a great trip!

Regards

Thanks very much TBS, It will be my first flight on a A340-6 something which I am quite looking forward to. Has anyone managed to find a seat plan for the 340-6 on the internet yet? the usual source still hadn't been able to undertake one yet.

one more quick note: my 6534 miles were posted to my Delta Skymiles account this morning, less than 24 hrs after last flight.

Interesting on the bulkhead claimer. I'm with you in taking a row were I can sleep on the seats and not on the floor.

LOL , that is a laugh...considering BOS-LHR is only 6 hours, no ? Wonder what this guy does on really long haul flights ? Sling a hammock across the aisle ?

Regarding the gallileo/aeroplan load checking tool mentioned above, just to manage expectations I have found it to be extremely inaccurate on quite a few flights, i.e. showing 0 availibilty in all classes (even full fare first class) only to have the flight take off with numerous empty seats.
