Upgrade processing (if any) with Gold and Silver on same PNR

Is there an auto process to MCS? Will one process at T-24 and one at T-12? (When traveling with someone w/no status, either the PNR needs to be split or you need to pay for both.) Also, will the system allow an upgrade to F at T-24 for both?

Overall, the upgrade system (and even sitting with a companion in MCE) is horrible when not traveling alone, the biggest downside of VX for me.

If they are on the same PNR, neither will process automatically. Each passenger who is eligible for a comp upgrade must be on their own PNR. This is true even if, for instance, a PNR is comprised of three golds.

The solution is to call VX and ask for the PNR to be split, and for each passenger to be opted-in for upgrades.

Ouch, as I suspected.
