status match
Hi all: My father is platinum on AA and thinking of switching to US due to some route changes. Who should he contact about getting a status match? What should he expect/ask for?
Thanks in advance for your help or experiences!

Status matches don't exist on US. I know it happens on the rarest of circumstances but the odds are next to nil. Especially since your father isn't top tier AA.
Instead, anyone who is not preferred can pay $200 or more for instant status for 90 days. Fly enough US-only flights within 90 days to retain silver, gold, platinum or chairman's until 2/29/2012. This is somewhat similar to AA's Elite Status Challenge which also comes with a cost.
There's a thread on this already.
