Postmerger fate of US pilots?
From PPRuNe:
"Just heard this rumor from a friend who works for United Airlines:
If the deal happens and United takes over USAirways, United will only take 1500 of the almost 6000 USAirways pilots.
Sounds like bloody murder and I doubt anybody will go for it, management or union.
The reason, again according to rumor, is that UAL cannot use many of the airplanes USAirways is flying because of different engines, analog cockpits or what not.
At first there was talks about merging pilot seniority lists by date of hire. Then there was talks about putting the USAirways pilots on the bottom of UAL's list, now there is talks about taking on only 1500. Wow.
Hope it ain't true."
