Office Max hit
I'm trying to do a trial run on making an office max purchase. I can't seem to find anywhere to input my DM #. I've selected my items and have my shopping cart ready to "pay," if i was actually going through with it, and nowhere can I find a DM # field. I used the link directly from the DM partners page. Can anybody help? Thanks!

One update to my own post earlier about hotels: the Marriott promotion seems to be limited to a very thin list of 270 hotels out of their portfolio of 3000 (or whatever).
Fortunately, it still works for me - three of my regular Dallas hotels are on there. They tend to run $75-90/nt., not the $50 that some of the cheapest Courtyards do. And to be safe, I'd probably also visit the lobby bar to ensure my total folio is $100 (200 miles)...just in case it's the stay that counts as a hit and not the 2,000 mile bonus that posts later. |
Looks like we need to put together a list of minimum spends for each non-hotel/car rental hit. Haven't seen a comprehensive list yet.

Where did you see a minimum mileage requirement for car rentals? I thought the only restriction that differed from last year was you could not have multiple rentals on the same date.

I'm not quite sure what your definition of "comprehensive" is, but I've compiled a list of cheap hits in post #1 of http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/2011-...er-thread.html.

Does the Share Miles count for both the Share-er and the Share-ee? I seem to recall that last year it did. Therefore, if I share from +1 to my account, then he gets a hit and I get a hit.... ???

has anyone managed to find a cheap supershuttle??
For what it's worth, I *hate* Supershuttle because of the time risk associated with waiting for a shuttle to fill up and depart for the city. But I figure EWR-Manhattan should be an okay place to do it because there should be a high volume of travelers. I'm going to a large midtown hotel so I figure odds are good that they'll load a van with other midtown-bound people. As long as it ends up being time-neutral with using the train/subway, I'll consider it a hit with about a $5 net cost to it. |

I only have one hotel program with 60 points. Spent some time figuring out how many hits I can get with paying next to nothing and not buying things I wouldn't for the Grand Slam....so here is a list of what I have in mind:
Credit card usage (will be receiving CC next week) Dividend shopping mall Skymall download toolbar share miles ($10) buy miles ( i do plan to buy 80 to 100k with the bonus miles) Dividend dining (will have extra 1000 miles as I just joined today, waiting to dine after September 15, 2011) Biscoff Office max Emile Ereward Magazines ( would order anyways) Supershuttle ( need it for my trip in december so If I pay now, hope i can get hit, if not, oh well) Thanks again (GC for pizza joint i frequently visit) Need two more for total of 16 hits...any suggestions...thought of U.S.A today for $20 and perhaps a cheap hotel stay for weekend trip doubt I will be able to get 20 hits unless i am going to buy things I really don't need |
FYI, you need to have a BoA checking account to get the debit card. I didn't have one and started to fill out the app online for a checking account and it started asking for income, etc. - the fine print said the info was needed for a credit check. I wasn't willing to risk a hard inquiry so went into a branch yesterday and within 10 minutes I had a no-fee checking account (no hard inquiry or credit check involved since I had BoA credit cards) and they will be mailing the debit card. Good hit for $30 and 3K miles.

In any case, I'm actually holding out on that one probably until the very end if necessary. This is just in case a share miles bonus promo materializes. If I wasted the $40 to share 1000 miles only to learn I could have shared 50K+50K for $568 I would be disappointed! |

Someone will have to ask. I have two other questions into US right now. When those are answered, I'll ask about sharing. You are correct in that both parties received the hit not just last year but in 2009 as well. No indication one way or the other this time around so who knows.
Why do you say "no indication"? It states clearly in the FAQ: If I share miles with another Dividend Miles member, will we both get a hit? Yes. When you share miles, they are moved from one account and into another. However, you can only earn a hit once, regardless of whether you give or receive miles. http://www.usairways.com/EN-US/FAQS/...AMFAQS.HTML#11 |
