Priority on the waitlist
I got a NY seat (NRT-BKK) for my sister out of my 1K account. She is 3P by the way.
We will travel together, but she has own PNR.
We were both waitilisted for XC seat.
Mine was cleared this morning, but hers is not, then I realized her waitlisted flight got a wrong date, so I had to call to correct the date. I was told she is on a priority list.
Anyway my question is
Is her priority on the waitlist as 3P or 1K just because using my miles?
When I booked mine, I asked agent to cross reference between the PNRs. Hope that helps...
I will just give her my C seat if hers not cleared since she doesn't have fly much...

If she has a different PNR, then she will be treated as a 3P. I think she will only get the 1K priority when both of you are on the same PNR.

I thought so
She planned her trip first then I decided to go with her later, so I couldn't book together...
My friend will be a purser on the flight, so it would be easy to switch my C seat with her E+ seat, though...

The XC waitlist is first on, first off. Status doesn't matter.
At the airport, she should be on the FFCC list which should clear before any upgraders. At that point, status might matter, I'm not 100% clear on that.
So she has a good shot as long as there aren't a lot of XC waitlisters ahead of her, and C is not close to full.

Are you sure about that? Whenever I'm waitlisted on an award ticket, they tell me I'm on a priority waitlist. That suggests that there is a PA/PB system similar to the upgrade waitlist. In other words, all 1Ks and those traveling on 1K miles should be cleared FIFO before others are cleared FIFO.
Make sure that the gate agents know she is waitlisted for an award ticket and should be classified as FFCC. From most accounts, this is not necessarily automatic.

I'm not 100%. I wouldn't take an agent's 'name' for the waitlist as a confirmation though, as they aren't usually trying to be specific in wording (they don't expect the customer to be so technical). Doesn't mean I'm correct though, maybe someone can confirm.

So do I need to make sure she is on FFCC list with gate agent at NRT???
Does her check-in time matter?

-- and even then, there are reports of GAs who ignore the FFCC list and start assigning seats to upgraders first

.Check-in time shouldn't matter, although if there are lots of other people on the FFCC list, it might. Certainly, if you have to ask 6 different agents to find one who knows what FFCC is and is willing to put sis on it, that could take a good deal of time.

I was told this also for a award ticket for my 3P wife, booked with my miles - and I'm a 1P. So who knows who gets priority and who doesn't. Maybe everyone waitlisted for an award seat is on a "priority" waitlist!
From all I've read here, you do need to make sure she is on the FFCC list when she checks in, and the chances are it won't happen automatically if you check in online or at a kiosk. You have to ask an agent, and there are many reports of agents having no clue what you mean

I just read "United Airlines Forum Glossary" about FFCC and it says
Applies to day of flight and when travelling on a First Class ticket (revenue or award), but holding a Business Class seat (due to no F seats in your booking class being available), folks on this list have priority to be assigned any available seats.
Does that mean FFCC is just for F?
My sister is holding NY and waitlisted for XC...

I actually paid for XC (mine) because one of the segments already cleared, so my understanding is that I should be on FFCC list for other segments if they won't clear until departure date.
On the other hand, my sister still holds NY on all segments because nothing is cleared yet. However, her itinerary shows "XC waitlisted". It looks hers won't clear... In that case should she be still on FFCC list just because she's been waitlisted for XC even she hasn't actually paid for XC yet?
What can I do for her???

Hmm. As I understand it, unless you pay the the amount of miles for an XC ticket upfront, you can't get on the XC waitlist... so if you really only paid the XY amount of miles for her ticket, an agent somewhere must have made a mistake. I'm not sure what you can do for her other than hope she clears into C and no one notices!
