I recall a thread in here a few weeks ago about how to determine whether one might have e+ based on the seat map at UAL.com, but I can’t find it anywhere.

I am also interested in creating a chart of the best and worst possible Y seats, in order of preference, on UA metal. Any suggestions are more than welcome then I’ll put it together and post it.

I flew in the bulkhead seat 3D on the A319 a few days ago, and it was great. The entire bulkhead row on this plane is the same in terms of legroom. The wall in front of you is curved, so you get plenty of room to stretch out. I'm assuming that row 4 on the A320 is exactly the same. The only downside is that it's very difficult to watch the inflight entertainment, as the screen is almost directly above your head. Not a problem for me, as I never watch the movie anyway. (I still haven't recovered from the Julia Roberts month of June...)

757:

Anywhere in rows 8 (2 seats only) or 9 (especially 9F).

737-200 (I think):

Seats 10A or F (exit row, no seat in front). (or is it row 11?)

For other craft I haven't found economy seats that are all that much better than the others (as long as you're in e+).

the 320 starts at row 6 in e+. there is no row 4 or 5.

on the 737, 737 shuttle, 319/320 the bulkhead right behind 1st is very good. the partition only goes down part way. lots of room here.

the 757 row 8DE and 9ABC and the second exit row over the wing.

According to my chart 10 A and F exit are the 733 regular, and 12 A F are the 733 shuttle.

The coach bulkhead on the 727 is horrible.

39 AB HJ are bulk/exit
40 CDEFG are Bulk

767-300 (international) –

16 AB FG are Exit
15 AB CDE FG should be avoided; bulkhead has less room than regular e+ on this craft

767-300 (Domestic) –

10 AB DEF HJ are Bulk
20 AB HJ are Exit/Bulk
21 AB HJ are Exit
21 DEF are Bulk

757-200 –

8 DE exit/bulk
9 ABC F are exit, no seat in front (A&F have emergency slide hump, mixed reports)
9 DE are exit, seat in front
15 ABC DEF Exit

Avoid non E+ like the plague on this craft.

737-500 –

4 ABC DEF are Bulk
9 ABC DEF are Exit

737-300 –

3 ABC DEF are Bulk
10 A F are behind exit row with no seat in front

727 –

5 ABC DEF are Bulk. (Reports indicate they are worse than regular E+)
6AF on some configs have no window
9 A F one some configs are behind exit with no seat in front
Other configs (Shuttle?) exits are rows 14 and 16
Avoid Row 15, no recline

319 --

3ABC DEF are Bulk Good reports
9A and F are behind exit with no seat in front

320 –

6 ABC DEF are Bulk,
10 ABC DEF are exit
11ABC DEF are exit

Good chart jer. On the 757, 9A and F are not so great because the hump created by the emergency slide blocks the legroom.

Also, in 9A on the 757, I've noticed that my left foot gets very cold. I guess the exit is not as well insulated as the rest of the fuselage? Still, I'll take 9A over most seats on the plane. In June I got lucky and had 9ABC to myself LAX-KOA and 16ABC (E+ exit) to myself on the return. :-) Almost made the Rectangle of Beef entree bearable.

The exit gets cold because the door seal isn't perfect.

Thanks for this wonderful chart. However, on the 727, 9 A F are NOT behind the exit with no seat in front. The exits are 14 & 16, and there are no areas without seats as in the A319. FYI avoid 15, there is no/limited recline.

On some 727's (haven't figured out which exact ones yet), 6AF have no window; it's like flying in a box.
