Got mine in the mail today. My trigger level is 6200 miles. Does anyone know if this bonus is on top of your regular bonus? I am 1P, so I already get double miles. Does this mean I get triple miles or quadruple miles? By the way, my home airport is IAD.

I've been in MP for 9 years and I finally got one of these offers. Mine says I must fly 12,500 miles.

Mine requires 17,250 miles. Last year they did several similar offers where they gave double miles if you flew more during a specific period than the previous year. Last year I flew about 14,391 during the Jan 15-Mar31 time period. So the award would kick in if I fly 1.2X more miles this year than last.

Darn--the time period starts the day after completion of an SFO-SIN RT that would have been enough on its own.

I live in Chicago and mine came yesterday. I'm 1P and it only requires 3,850 miles between 1/15 and 3/31 to get double miles between 4/1 and 6/15.

I'm almost positive this is based on 2000 1Q flight activity because almost all my flying occurs in the Spring and Fall for conferences. I fly very little between Jan. and March, so the # is low.

Nice because this gives time to plan at least one or two leisure trips during the double mile window!

Mine came today - 2800 miles for me! I had a very slow start last year, so my guess is that this double mileage threshold is based on my last years mileage during the same qualification period.

Well, with my trip to ORD that I just completed, it looks like I'll now get double miles on my trips to KOA, JFK, CDG and SIN!

I have yet to receive an offer card.

Is there any point of calling MP and asking if I have been 'targeted' for this offer? Would they be able to determine this?

Thanks!

BTW, Are some people still getting these letters? Some have stated that it is based on 1Q 2000 flying. If this is the case I would be blessed, seeing as I did not fly any 2000 UA flights until Sept 2000.

Thanks!

A few years ago I got a similar promotion from UA, but it was explicit about how it calculated the mileage threshold. If I flew more miles in the first quarter of 1997 (?) than I flew in 1996, then I would get a bonus of X thousand miles. IIRC the bonus was about 10,000 miles.

I would love to get the offer this year! I flew less than 2,000 miles in 1Q 2000. I have 2,000 in already and another 14,000 planned for February.

I just got off the phone to MP and I was told that it is based on your UA flight miles from the same period last year and that the amount is 20% over that total.

Sadly, she did not see that I was 'targeted' for this promotion. She also had no criteria for who was selected. She said those who are in the marketing department get it by 'Unknown Means.'

My wife seems to have received the lowest qualifying amount of miles yet reported: Only 2,000 and then she gets double miles for the later period. Since we're headed for Vermont from SFO in February, that's a mighty simple qualifier.

Can anyone else confirm the 20% calculation. I am not going to be at home for another 2 weeks so not sure if I received the card. If I did, then I would need 42522 miles to qualify!!! Not very fair but I'm not complaining!

I don't want people to hate me, so I won't put the number of miles I have to fly - let's just say it's less than anything I read in this thread. I didn't fly much Q1 of 2000 but enough in the other 3 quarters to make reduced PremEx.

Sorry about being late to the dance, here, but we also got off to a slow start last year. Our target (already achieved) was a 40% increase.

I have no status and flew a total of 7,000 miles last year.

My requirment...2000 miles!!!

Anyway, I think they may be "tagerting" those who check their mileage accounts online often. I do that, and I can't see why me (a 15 year old with no status and only 7k miles) would be "targeted" when NO ONE else in my family was...

BTW - My home airport is IAD...just for those interested ( this was the edited part )
