Double Miles Promo 4/1 to 6/15 2001
Just got the letter from MP. Fly 9200 paid miles between Jan. 15 and March 31, 2001 and get boulbe mile for any United flights you purchase and complete between April 1, and June 15, 2001
The code at the bottom is MPN 081 |
Very sweet deal for any laggards who decide to do the E-Z requalification for 1K by flying 25,000 miles in Q1 2001. |
Must one register for this promo...?? I assume only UA metal qualifies, correct? |
Says nothing about registering, Not applicable for code shares.
However I just found in the very small print: "Offer valid for recipients of this mailing only" [This message has been edited by den1k (edited 01-09-2001).] |
How sweet it is!
Does that 9200 miles applies only to you or to everyone else? Weird that they pick such an odd number. I would also assume this on UA metals only (as it always is); and we ought to save this thread in case there are any questions about this in the future. Thanks for posting, den1k! Thx Jamester |
Said to be a targeted promo. "You are already registered if you got the mailing." Anybody find out anything different?
|
These targeted promos are starting to p... me off. Has anyone been able to call UA and force them to enroll you in a targeted promo that you didn't receive?
|
Don't know if anyone else was planning on doing that inaugural UA round the world April 1, but I've booked that for fun, and had it all upgraded, so double miles on a UA metal rtw would be nice as that must be 15,000-20,000 flown miles. Hope they targeted it for some International members for a change!
Reading posts above den1K and warrenlm are both 1Ks and received it, so might it be just a 1K new year sweetener? That seems possible as the EXTRA miles come after April 1, and the "2nd chance" for 1K ends March 31 as I recall, so might just be a carrot for any 1Ks who might not have committed to the 9000+ 1st Q miles? ------------------ ~ Glen ~ [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 01-09-2001).] |
I called MP (didn't have my Palm so didn't have the Prem Ex #) and the operator claimed that she could not register me for that promotion. She advised that this promotion (and similar ones) are determined by UA Marketing and are based on flyer profiles, usually those that had exhibited a reduction in miles flown (no real suprise there; should I reduce my UA flying?!)
She was kind enough to look for other promotions that I might benefit from, and found none. Do you think I'd have better luck calling the Prem Ex desk? Or is this a hard-and-fast rule? I have about 20M miles scheduled within the promotional time frame and will likely have another 20M or so scheduled within the bonus period, so this would sure benefit me. Mike |
OZSTAMPS, what fare did you get for the UA rtw? What are the rules/how did you book?
Thanks. Mike |
Mikey .. there was a discussion on the April 1 re-vitalised rtw here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000727.html There was also quite a bit of fare input on the Star Alliance board late 2000. As with all rtw Alliance fares, WHERE you start is the key. OZ seems good, (my ticket was only about $US1000 for the 20,000 odd flown miles) or Scandinavia of all places also seems real cheap to start this! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum82/HTML/000284.html This link below also indicates that many United 747 Business and Coach seats will be the newer, bigger, brighter ones by April 1st and one assumes as some media and UA brass will be on the inaugural flight they'll schedule in one of the shiny new interior aircraft. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.ual.com/site/primary/0,10017,2991,00.html ------------------ ~ Glen ~ [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 01-09-2001).] |
It is definitely targeted. I received the mailing yesterday, and it said I needed some number just under 16K during the qualification period.
|
I,m not sure what the target group is of this promo, but my wife got the same offer and she is PremEx.
So 1k status is not the only criteria. |
Does anyone think they can scan this letter and post it up?
Thanks Terence |
It's targeted to specific individuals. Not all members will receive the offer. The qualifing miles are based on an individual formula and will vary by member.
Don't worry about this one unless you get the offer in the mail. |
