Probably a dumb Q about RCC LAX
I am flying LAX-SYD in Business in early August.
I know I am invited to use the RCC in LA but I am a bit confused about what I have read regarding drinks. Is the lounge not like all other airlines Business Class International lounges - open bar and food??
If not, I have Priority Pass, should I use a different lounge or will that be too difficult, I am leaving from Terminal 7.
I have searched and read a lot of threads but cannot seem to work this out. Sorry if it has been covered.
Is it worth trying to upgrade that sector to F Class by paying at the airport? I am on a RTW TG/LH/UA C Class ticket.

Flying TPAC in C should get you into the RCC, and you should be able to get two drink chits (assuming you are flying on UA). If flying in C on a *A carrier, I think you can get into the RCC, but not sure about the drink chits in that case... someone else will surely chime in on that.
They might have UFC (upgrade for cash) on your flight... there is a thread (long) about folks' experiences with that. No guarantees, however. Certainly, for a long flight like that, F would be great (and if you do get into F, you can use the IFL, which does have free food and drinks).

The LAX RCC (as is true with most RCCs) doesn't have real food. You will find fruit, cheese/crackers, little boxes of raisins, mini candy bars, granola bars, etc., depending on time of day. The food options in the terminal aren't fantastic, at the upper end. There is a restaurant at the center of LAX called Encounters -- not sure if it is open now or by August -- it is being renovated.

Encounters is open. The view from within was mostly unobstructed by construction when I was there 4 weeks ago.

In T7 there is the UA RCC and UA IFL only. CO has a lounge in T6 which you could walk to from T7 inside of security. There are a few restaurants but like the others have said, you will get 2 drink chits upon showing your C boarding pass at the front door. If you have an UA RCC membership, you will get free WiFi.

The RCC is just a quieter place to sit compared to Australian International Business lounges. A little S.A.T. analogy:
The NZ Koru Lounge in SYD is to platinum metal as the RCC lounge in LAX is to dung.
(FWIW, the RCC in SYD sucked major wind as well)!

While the door matrons at LAX have not earned the reputation of the matrons at IAD, they still might not freely offer you the chits you are entitled to. You may have to indignantly demand them. Just be prepared.
As for food, even the fruit, cheese, and crackers are pretty pathetic.

I would like to chime in that although I can go over to the CO lounge in T6 and use my WorldClubs pass, the free wine on the ground is about as awful as the wine they serve in the air. There are threads you could look up about the CO wine. The RCC wine isn't fantastic, but I think it once saw a bottle
So if you're looking to use that Priority Pass over there (not sure if it is a participating) you may have to be prepared to weigh quality vs. cost.

Note that's 2 drinks if they feel like giving you the chits for them.
