Do Global Services Members get automatic 1K status?

I was GS for one year (6 yrs ago) and then our company changed all travel to "E, and upgrade yourself..."
So even after flying a consistent ~200k/yr for the last 6 years, haven't been able to make it back to GS (understandably, given you can get ~5 E roundtrip tickets from SFO-SIN for the cost of 1 C roundtrip ticket on the same route).
Speaking of SFO-SIN route - it's the return that is always humorous for a GS (or SIN-ORD, or SIN-...). The Singapore UA staff are adamant that they walk GS's to the gate for the 6:40AM flight to HKG. I've seen GS's ditch their escorts by ducking into bathrooms, etc.
