Do Global Services Members get automatic 1K status?

The title says it all. I believe in 2007 all UGS were automatically 1K regardless of miles flown, but I have heard mixed reports about it for 2008. Can anyone report from the front lines?

Yes indeed they do

Just to confirm--yes.

To expand a little: up until and including last year, it was possible to be a 1K GS or a 1P GS. Apparently, based on: 1) anecdotal information from FTers, and 2) the fact that MP level is no longer indicated on the GS card, we have surmised that this year all GS have either earned or have been granted 1K status.

My conclusion would actually be different.

Last year's GS card said:
United
Global Services
osxanalyst
1K

This years says:
United
MileagePlus
osxanalyst
Global Services

Thus it looks like they have transitioned (or are transitioning) GS from being separate from MP to being part of MP, one level above 1K.

Same wording on my 2008 UGS card as well.

But, when I log into .bomb, it shows me as 1k Global Services.

I was 1k on BIS miles before I was UGS, and qualified for 2008 1K before I was given the nod up to UGS.

So, does a non-EQM/EQS earning 1K(ish) level GS get SWU too?

chitownflyer Feb 29, 2008 10:06 am

Do GS then get SWUs deposited into their accounts in January and earn CR1s?

I have to admit... I am impressed that United puts your Flyertalk handle on your card.... :)

I have known a few people that were 1P as a GS level, but now, they have made it automatic IK status

Happy 5th year anniversary for GS level on March 1st :D

I think majority of GS earned 1K status. How many GS here did not fly more than 100K miles last year, i wonder. I did.

I wonder about this, too. I mean, if an UGS doesn't cross the EQM or EQS threshold for 1K, is he/she not worthy of the benefits of 1K even though he/she generates a lot more revenues (and probabaly profits) than many 1Ks. In other words, if one is good enough to be UGS, does it matter whether he/she only flies 25K, 50K, or 100K?

While I did too, it does not necessarily have to occur.

So does anyone know definitively if non-1K GS are granted SWUs? Are there any non-1K GS FTers that confirm if SWUs are, or are not, the case?
