Customer Care says call in 2012
Recieved a response to my e-letter re extending expiration of SWU's recieved last month. They say: "may request to have them extended to Dec 31,2012. Requests must be made after Jan 1 2012 directly with Milage Plus 1-800-756-1000."
So that is still the policy, as of Oct 12th.

Is there a way to remove FF# right before flying, still obtain elite benefits, and claim the miles all at the same time later in the year?

For example just before boarding you remove the FF number and board -- then a MX or WX delay happens, guess what your priority for re-accommodation will be.

I hit 100K a few weeks ago and the 6 SWUs were deposited in my account with a 10/12 expiry.
So I just have to call the 1K desk and they will extend the six until 4/12?

Past practice has been to allow us to extend 1 SWU from a January expiration to an April expiration and that is normally as the expiration dates is fast approaching. I'd be surprised if they allowed an extension a full year prior to expiration.

As I read this post, you want to ask UA to take SWUs that expire in Oct 2012 and change them so that they expire in April 2012?
Presuming you mean April 2013, the answer is 'I doubt it'. Past practice has been to allow us to extend 1 SWU from a January expiration to an April expiration and that is normally as the expiration dates is fast approaching. I'd be surprised if they allowed an extension a full year prior to expiration.

It appears in Jan you will be able to request the 6 qualification SWUs can be extend to Dec 2012 ? or Jan 2013 ? expiration. Not clear which date will used.
