With CO's hand in things, I was fearing worse. While this is still technically a hit for many UA 1Ks (we'll get 4 CR1s vs. 8), it could have been worse (CO had 0).

What we don't know, but the writing is on the wall for, is the Elite Choice program. I have a feeling that with a CR1 reward every 25K, they'll do away with Elite Choice.

1Ks loosing 4 CR1s is quite a loss of benefits and a very customer unfriendly move on UA's part. For those flying the PS routes, there is no longer any other method of upgrading except miles and copay. Adding 20 segments to 1K requalification is also quite harsh. The only benefit which I see and like is the ability to combine CO & UA accounts to reach an elite level.

What a horrible development. I just got my email and thought I'd check FT. I'm VERY glad to join my FT brethren in displaying our SEVERE distaste to these developments.

I *HATE*, I mean with a passion, HATE when companies try to tell me that making my experience WORSE is actually BETTER and NEW. It makes me feel like:

- The company is trying to hoodwink it's customers
- The company is treating me like a child
- Attempting to evoke the exact opposite attitude I have towards the information.

Dear United PR,
I know you're only doing your job, but JEEZ, to us "true" travelers here on the forum, couldn't you have at least said something like,

"Ok guys, I know this isn't going to be good news for you, but here's what's coming down the pipe."

I think you would have gotten a LOT warmer reception here on the forums. We all understand the game is going to change with the merger, but COME ON.

I live in Denver, I've been a loyal United flyer for years, but I am just NOT that premium or frequent of a flyer. For folks who do 120 EQS or easily 150K BIS these rules probably don't affect the much, but it's a huge effect on me, and:

I'M GOING SHOPPING FOR A NEW AIRLINE.

Not saying I'll find one given my situation, but I'M LOOKING.

Ditto on the MM benefits. As a .6MM 1P this is my biggest concern. UA is the toughest program to qualify as MM due the the BIS-only requirement. If they try to reduce that to *S to align with CO then there needs to be some sort of retroactive adjustment for all the non-BIS lifetime miles that the CO folks have and we don't.

Bolding mine: As with me :mad: (and overall, "not happy" with this latest round of enhancements-makes we want to stick my tongue out at Smisek during his pre-flight video when he says I think you'll be excited about the changes. <feh>)

Of course, the Elite Choice program was pretty weak for 1K's this year anyway with nothing at the 75k level.

Still, there's a lot of value at higher levels (and even at 75k for non-1Ks). And I agree, it'll be gone soon.

+1 especially when CO always used ENHANCEMENT to let us know we were about to lose some perks

But more is to come Im sure as they try to work out some middle road for both programs

CO taught UA that allowing so many segs wasnt to their benefit both since it meant more EQMs RDMs theyd give us when they didnt have to as well as # of Segs,

Im sure the 100k would have gone up but Im sure COs customers wont be happy going from 75k to 100k imagine if they went from 75k to 125k

I never want to see benefits diminished, but I have to admit that with UDU, I have had little use for CR-1s lately. The only flights that I have not been upgraded on were those flying in and out of Houston (go figure!)

After spending extra personal money on United this year, just so I could requalify for 1K and earn my CR1s next year, I feel like it's a slap in the face to learn that I will not be receiving the 2 quarterly CR1s any longer. The least they could have done was announced this loss of benefit for 2012, so we can make informed decisions about how we fly next year, but announcing it after most people have re qualified and United now has our money is simply disgraceful! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Also, as someone who has been having to do a lot of regional hops on puddle jumpers since August, and most likely through Dec 2011, 120 is now out of reach.

How can we speak of gain when it's a loss of 4 CR1s at the 100kEQM mark.

One thing I didn't see mentioned, maybe I just glossed over it, do we still earn additional SWUs every 50K EQM over 100K EQM? Or is this bye-bye as well?

I'm not sure where you get the "Priority 1K", it's "Priority 1P"

GS, MM1K, 1K, "Priority 1P", MM1P, 1P is the way I read it. Of course, all 1Ks are ahead of me now, so I don't see that as a change. The "Priority 1P" is the only group that makes a difference. They could just as easily put the priority as: GS, MM1K, 1K, MM1P, "Priority 1P", 1P. who knows?

The bottom line is that they have not addressed the 1MM question yet.

As a frequent SFO-JFK psER ending the year around 103,000 EQM, the change to the CR1 policy really bites!
