United Suite Dreams reporting that an additional 747 is now in rotation to handle the "summer and winter" schedule (or something like that).
The updated page doesn't reflect two 777s having the new configuration.
I read a post earlier that said two 747s have been reactivated from the desert. Is this true?
Flew yesterday on a Lufthansa 747 flight from EWR to FRA and spoke to two pilots about the new 747-800. They were both very excited about the next generation double-decker.

Only one 747-400 has been brought back from the desert- Additionally they are still using a new config 747-400 for some domestic runs too
I really hope UA orders the new 747-8...

Apparently N194UA went MX yesterday 8/7 or perhaps the day before. It was supposed to fly UA 973 ORD-SFO, but due to the MX, the plane was swapped to the new config 747 coming in from BRU on the same flight number. Flight was delayed about 90 minutes because of it.

saw this bird out at IAD yesterday, what an amazing sight to see the old (yet well worn) livery on the 744

Oops, I must have imagined that part. UA973 from BRU is a 763. It was some other international flight that got into ORD though - the gate agent was repeatedly saying that the delay was due to MX on the original (old config) 744 and that they were having to bring one over from the international terminal.

And ual.com doesn't show either the LAX or SFO to SYD flights on 8/9 as being old configuration. The return aircraft would have to come from one of these two flights. The BC seat map for SYD-SFO is showing old configuration as well as coach. So I guess anything is possible.
