2 reservations same day/time, problem?
i made a reservation months ago for me and mrs lehms, she is on the free part of my MP VISA free companion certificate, i am on the paid part.
we just found out she needs to go somewhere else at the same time, same day as we are scheduled to return back home
her MP # is now on 2 reservations at the same time
problem?
my thought is to check only me in on the reservation we share for the way home and not her on that record and check her in on the other ticket we just purchased but am worried this is a problem
or
should i check her in on both and board solo
thank you for the help

I am not an expert on this but I wouldn't check her in for both flights. You should call UA on this.

DON'T CALL UA. They may completely foul you up by claiming that the ticket is now a one way and invalidate it. Do as your intuition says, check in only yourself for the one reservation, and check in MRS for the other.

The system never seems to be aware of overlapping or simultaneous itineraries. So UA will only be aware of the situation, if you make them aware.

So... I'm wondering what would happen if OP checked his wife in for both, wife flew the new flight, but he handed both BPs to the GA at boarding and she scanned without checking for second pax. Possible, I think...

It would be 100% dishonest. However, my question wasn't the morality, but rather whether or not the UA systems (technology or human) would discover the issue. It should not be possible, but I could certainly see that it might work with the current systems that I've observed.
