E+ Full and Back-end Half Full

Has anyone ever encounter a situation where the E+ section is completely occupied whereas the E section is half empty?

This is happening on my UA896 SIN-HKG flight tomorrow 06Nov. I called UA and they confirmed all E+ seats taken and not as a result of blocking.

No, but if it did I'd downgrade myself and enjoy the ghetto-sleeper-seat in the 4 across section for a nice short nap

I'm 1K. Every time I'm on this flight (and I'll be on it again next week, starting from ORD), Y is full of package tourists (I think bucket shops in both SIN and HKG sell this tag flight for peanuts) and I get bumped to C. It's unreal, I'm 12/12 in the past two years. The HKG staff usually have my C BP ready to go at the gate and I even get GOOD C seats!

It could be that the overall load in E- is pretty full, but the bucket shop buyers may not have (or may not be able to) selected seats.

In fact, when I try to make a dummy booking, .bomb tells me I can't select a seat... cross your fingers!

Many times when E+ looks full it's because you are not logged in or the site lost your login. Logout and try again and the seats will probably show up.

Consolidators are widely used in Asia, so it's possible they've sold a lot of seats to people without seat assignments. They'll get their seats at checkin.

That is actually the norm for my SIN flying now .

And if it wasjust the HKG-SIN ... I had it numerous times on the HKG-SFO .

When I was recently downgraded by a malicious HKG GA from the last E+ aisle I could reserve 4 weeks out, I found myself in an empty E- cabin on the HKG-SIN hop ... so yes, it is normal.

How could you be downgraded? Is there no love for 1K's in HKG?

Just flew SFO-HKG-SFO. Both times E+ was full to the brim. E- had middle seats open.

Economy Plus filling up on International recently?

Hi;

I normally take Lufthansa or United 900/1 as it was more certain than Air France in getting status and good seats. United seat selection was one of the betters ones out there. Some do not even give you a seat in many cases (Emirates).

It seems to me, as I have been on a couple flights this year, and just now was looking to book and find all the Economy Plus booked out. I am a 1k and used to get a lot of benefits on seats, which seems to be harder today than i ever remember.

I was guessing it is because everywhere you look those seats are for sale?

Regards,

Jon

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8800 AT&T Wireless: Opera/9.80 (BlackBerry; Opera Mini/5.0.19692/21.529; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54)

Remember that if there aren't any more E- seats to be assigned, UA will automatically assign you an E+ seat at the gate.

With load factors so high due to capacity cuts, it makes sense that E+ is starting to fill up.

Also keep in mind that CO elites now get E+ as well (where we don't get that same treatment on CO metal, because there's no E+).

CO elites are moving to UA aircraft for international E+. I know I am, and the folks at the DCA PC indicate that many customers that used to do DCA-EWR-Europe are now going IAD-Europe - and now in E+.

It is a no brainer. CO/UA will need to equalize the international coach experience for elites.

I'm seeing this too for an upcoming HKG trip. I took 58B and am keeping my fingers crossed on the upgrade.

I urge all of you CO converts to write to your number-crunching CEO about this phenomenon as he contemplates doing away with E+!

Why are you worried about it? Jeff said, "You'll see a number of changes in the months ahead, and I think you'll like them."
