The state of the 757 fleet
Really quite pitiful for international flights in Polaris aside from the tired old 2x2 hard product today was treated to the IFE screen having fallen inside it's bezel and being crooked. A non functioning lav in polaris and lots of duct tape holding it together.
The sooner the 321XLRs come online the better (and yes i normally try and avoid a 757)

Crew were really good, must be hard working with substandard tools.
I went to use the rear lavs and the crew were talking about how the water heater there was inop too.

A bracket had come loose from the display panel and had dropped into the monitor assembly. A soap bottle was found stuck in the dump valve. Both of the repairs were made in EWR.

The monitor screen and lav have been repaired. The overhead trim piece is secured and deferred. I assume that was the tape that you saw. It requires a permanent repair using adhesive. Operation of the overhead bin was not affected.

I love flying the 757…when there are no issues. But outside of the AvGeek experience of loving the spooling up of the engines while taking off, the hard product is substandard. The lie-flat A21Ns and the A21NYs cannot come soon enough in that regard, along with improved operational reliability.

The new AA 321XLR with flagship looks good - I can see it taking business on the EDI-JFK route if UA don't get a better plane on it quickly - if it's price equivalent, it's a no brainer.

Are they going to be the only successor of the 752s? Or are they still planning on installing lie-flats to the 737 max -10s?

Just wanted to add that someone accidentally knocking the soap bottle into the toilet wasn't the fault of the old airplane. Could have happened on a brand new 321 or 787.
