Will there be a way to specifically search for flights with SkipWait available or at least show an indicator? Similar to how there is an indicator for PZ>0 in the search results now.

Hopefully our bosses don't see this, because it turns out you're right. Methinks it's time for a little more coffee.
We'll add G class as an eligible fare as our intent to allow all published, revenue fares except Basic Economy to be upgradeable to Polaris. Thanks for the catch! GS pluspoints are valued higher than 1k pluspoints? Can we still use pluspoints to upgrade friends and family? |

Mileage Plus will continue as a program for experts, that's for sure.
This might incent me to hit 125k (or even 150) this year. I don't care about extra GPUs, but I think I may care about getting extra points in order to skip the waitlist. Would be nice to know if we'll be able to extend the equivalent of 2 GPUs through April. And btw, UA Insider, nice to see you back, hope we will see more of you :) Our terms and conditions state these upgrades expire at the end of the program year they’re earned for, which is the end of January of each year. Unfortunately we can’t discuss internal policies regarding extension of upgrades. Not to sound like your middle school principal, but rules are rules. With PlusPoints you’ll have the ability to apply multiple concurrent waitlists requests and our new skip waitlist option as you mention is great for certainty of a confirmed upgrade. |
Maybe it's just me, but I have to assume that "skip" the waitlist will be priced according to the available fares... and people will be burning through a large bundle of PlusPoints to get the few upgrades that people actually want on desirable routes. That may be where the dynamic piece will begin, along with a corresponding reduction in availability of upgrades that don't require "skipping" the waitlist.
In this sense, United will maintain no availability for upgrades if they've made upgrades available in the background while people are burning through the "skip" benefit at a higher price than would otherwise be discovered. |

Realized I have one more (slightly more complicated) question for UA Insider :
Right now it's possible to use one GPU (on a W or higher fare) to waitlist for both the Premium Plus and Polaris cabins. This costs one GPU and you fly in the highest cabin into which you can clear. Will there be a similar mechanic with PlusPoints, or do you have to choose to list for either Premium Plus or Polaris, but not both? |

You will still be able to waitlist for both cabins. However, if you only clear into Premium Plus you’ll ultimately only pay for the highest upgrade you receive which in this example would be Premium Plus (20 PlusPoints). Keep in mind we’ll deduct the full request price, equal to the highest price upgrade requested, whenever any upgrade clears and you’ll receive any difference in PlusPoints due back to you when landing at your destination.
Thanks for the answer and thanks for sticking around to take questions in general! :) |
After this new system establishes itself I would like to see some consideration given to exchanging RDMs for PlusPoints (at a ratio to be determined).

Lifetime GS (4 million miler) will continue to receive the equivalent of 6 gpu and 2 rpu in points correct (even if you don't meet status)?

That is correct. 20 and 40, respectively.

I think the lack of G fares noted is pretty simple - they don't sell G fares internationally, only domestically. One might see a G fare for domestic feeding routes, but in theory, one does not upgrade to Premium Plus or Polaris from a G fare, ever.

Good catch - but G fares are most definitely offered internationally. YYZ-PEK/PVG is currently <$500 in G. I guess these will not be upgradeable even using the new super-GPU!
UPDATE: G is already there, good job! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8f494a6a41.png |

Yeah, that was our bad. This has since been updated on our website.
So lets say one is flying EWR-SFO-Asia, and want to use 20 points to upgrade to PPlus on the TPAC, will this require a separate 20 points to upgrade the domestic to "F", for a total of 40? |
