What are other options to United

Am now thinking ahead to the rest of the year-

wisdom of the crowd: which US airline has a loyalty program that’s good? Similar perks to Global. I have a ton of travel coming up and have no intention of giving United any business

thoughts?

my usual route is IAD-SFO semi weekly. Just today booked all my travel through March on Alaska. Over $25k. Was all United’s. For what it’s worth United can take their challenge and put it somewhere immensely uncomfortable. If this was in fact a glitch or an error they’ve been insanely too slow to address it.

With respect to how UA 'may' shape GS going forward is this potential model sustainable? Is criteria that rewards a select few, high-flying whales more lucrative than boots-on-the-ground $60K-$100K annual travelers? I can't imagine there are enough of them to carry this airline forward. Furthermore, We're all sick of 1K boarding lines seemingly longer than individual groups to follow.

We know it’s not that, there are plenty of 40-50k flyers posting that they got it. The inconsistency is what is frustrating.

I'm not GS but this thread has been fascinating to follow! What I would do if I was in your situation is send UA copies of the receipts for every flight you book on another airline.

Same, I'm a no status UA flyer but crazy thread to read. Hope it gets resolved for y'all. I do think there is some system issue because it's unbelievable that there's zero (re)quals out of the people posting in the last few days.

Is anyone actually getting EXPLICIT notification that they are not getting GS (i.e. "You will not be getting GS for 2024"), or is everyone getting a default published status and extrapolating/assuming they are not getting GS (as UA actually still works through GS nominations)? This seems too big to be anything other than a snafu on UA's part rather than the final outcome.

Or, I could be wrong... :)

T-17 days will tell..

2021 36k UA metal 1k
2022 48k UA metal 113 segement 1k
2023 52k UA metal 142 segments 1k
2024 was going to be around 60k (3 months booked in advance around 15k)
sfo based
No GS at all
So I guess since I almost never fly international (1 or per year) I may never qualify.
well I can get to 1k with united at 24k and spend the rest with another airlines.
No point in trying to chase something I am never able to achieve.

Wow....I guess the decision to raise the funding requirement (to $75k) for PassPlus GS might be manifested somehow in UA's normal GS decision-making process also. Certainly doesn't explain some of the denials/approvals, though, including a 100% booting at your company w/ the avg. spend there...

There was also this in an email. The second paragraph is obviously nonsense. Given my history with United which includes spending almost $450,000 in the last 5 years, it’s simply insulting. I’ll assume they don’t actually read what they email out.

Although the data points are limited, the evidence so far seems to suggest that UA has made a blanket change to disqualify from GS anyone who earns through a corporate discount program, no matter how high the PQP. For everyone else, seems to be business as usual.

Unitedloyalflyer Jan 13, 2024 9:29 pm

wonder if UA is considering merging GS with CC, which requires a far higher amount to qualify for than does GS

ncorman Jan 13, 2024 9:32 pm

For those spending large amounts of money with United is it being done with United-branded credit cards? Could they now be looking at this as a metric as well?

Just reading through some of these I am quite surprised many are not being invited back to GS.

Given how many fewer options AS has than UA, why are you punishing yourself when irrops happen? I get not wanting to give United business after this, but every time someone posts "I'm never flying X again" it's often cutting off their own nose to spite the face. Revenge is never good business?
