Check-in amazingly slow for flight today. App hangs forever. Web slow, no seatmap, but BP issued.

Haven't read through the whole thread, so apologies if already reported.
I booked a reservation through travel agency (work trip) and went to select seats on United website. It was trying to charge me to select E+ seats.

Called into 1K desk and they were able to select for me without difficulty.

Is it ticketed? For me, new booking was adding charge, but once ticketed I could select E+ no charge.

Had an issue this past Friday (10/21) where a ticket change got stuck and was on hold with first an agent, then the rate desk, for 35+ minutes. They got the ticket reissued and got me checked in, but I have yet to get back the $125 in future flight credit (they said to give it a few days for the segments to clear off).

Today, I have been having awful issues searching for and booking tickets; if I click the tab for a different date, I get a generic error, and I have to manually update the search dates. I bought one ticket, got the confirmation and receipt emails, but the web site threw and error, and the itin is there in my account but not showing any earnings (claims it's missing my MP #). I'm not touching it yet as I'm worried it will mess things up even more to try applying my MP # manually; I'll probably call UA later to try to get it (and it knows it's me, as I used future flight credit from a prior trip to pay for ~50% of this ticket).

Several parts of the site are also throwing "Down for Maintenance" screens for me right now.

But I suppose it's at least not asking me the security questions over and over again...

It was not ticketed yet, but prior to this "upgrade", I was able to select seats with no problem even when it had not ticketed yet.

Guess this is the new normal then...

Yeah it didn't used to be this way. Seems to be one of the many new bugs they're not in any hurry to address or fix.

Feature most likely. Official policy on seat assignments is that it needs to be ticketed.

A feature that will allow seat assignments before ticketing for a spurious charge but after ticketing will correctly waive charges? Huh. Seems borderline fraudulent, then.

Also - domestic XN space seems to have dried up? Seeing a lot of phantom partner availability too. Hopefully this gets worked out.

Changing partner tickets online can be dangerous, especiall with "phantom partner availability". You could end up with nothing. LH is generally better than most but ....

Just spent some time on the phone with United Web Support. They were not aware of an issue with the shopping portal log in, but were able to see some problems while I was on the line and will get a ticket started. Someone is supposed to get back in touch with me.

Fwiw, I checked and can log in and log out easily, with all info displaying accurately. I didn't try to buy anything though. Good luck, that sounds frustrating.

Thanks for checking. It was frustrating, but glad I called it into the helpdesk as they didn't seem aware of the issue. They definitely saw a problem on their end as well, with the log in process not working correctly.

And it is now working for me as well!

It's an intermittent error. I bumped into it once, but am otherwise still able to select seats on both website and app at no charge.

That's nonsense. Both the app and website have always offered seat selection prior to ticketing.

Of course nothing is confirmed until you're ticketed. That's always been true with UA.
