Will UA follow Delta and increase PQD requirements for 2024?

Quote: That seems like the likely range . . . probably higher than this year, maybe not as high as pre-Covid.
A lot of people decide up front whether to pursue or not. Setting it at 24K PQP, with no upfront kicker, would lead to many people simply walking away.

I'm hearing rumblings that the program updates for next year are being announced tomorrow. Sounds like 2020 levels with some head start bonuses and new earning methods. Along the lines of what DL/AA has where if you have status they make it easier to maintain status.

Tomorrow, i.e. a Tuesday? Are they trying to bury the announcement under the US elections news? 😓

To where? Where is the grass greener - and if it is greener why aren't they there already?

Agreed. Though 'walking away' to free agency is always an option (moreso for those buying the front cabin though probably)

What were 2020 levels, 18-24K, or lower?

Yes, for 1K.

Silver/Gold/Platinum/1K were 4k/8k/12k/18k with applicable segments count or 5k/10k/15k/24k with no segments minimum (after 4 segments).

Free agency. Once you start down the FA path, you no longer care about thresholds.

At $15K UA is superior to FA, but at $24K, FA wins.

This, mid year promo won't make sense if people already decide not to go with UA at the beginning.

Quote: Wondering if anyone has heard any peep on what United status requirements flying in 2023 for 2024 might look like? Do we think it's the same COVID-19 reduction for what this year was for 2023 status (e.g. 1K = 13,500PQP+36PQF or 15K PQP) or going back up to pre-COVID requirements (e.g. 1K = 18KPQP+54PQF or 24K PQP)?

I really think that UA should end bias against hub flyers by eliminating segment counts, or give us PQD/or Segments qualification.

4K/8K/12K/18K spend or whatever segments for silver/gold/plat/1K

current scheme also penalizes international flyers.

I said before, whoever from United came up with the $24K figure lost touch with reality.

Not at all if business travels are at pre-covid level. But with lots of company adopted video meeting and travel freeze in effect, $24k is ambitious.

I'll wait to reserve judgement how out of touch the 24k figure is or is not until the actual changes are fully announced. It sounds like there will be boosts for already holding status in addition to more things counting for PQPs, which could make that 24k number more reasonable to hit.

For comparison, without any further information, on a pure spend level, that number isn't too much out of line with AA depending where you're starting from.

AA if you're starting from nothing appears to take around 27000 in spend to reach EP, whereas if you're starting from EP takes approximately 18,000. Depending how UA implements the 24k requirement could very well be in line with what AA has for their top tier status.

There are more ways to earn LPs on AA.

I have no horses in the race, as I am an economy fare free agent. That said, if going to $24K is what it takes for people to step off the rat race to the bottom, and in turn, UA gets the cold water it needs, then bring it on!

One change I'd like to see is instead of 500 PQP for every 12K in credit card spend is to simply award 1 PQP for every 10 dollars in CC spend, at least on the club card

That would be more punitive than the AA system when you compare credit card spend to earn equivalent status. United doesnt offer anything in terms of an overall product or program premium over AA to justify a harder earning option.
