Two RJ questions: 1. Why did so many of the 145s end up in Quebec; maintenance? Did they forego upgrading the interiors on these? So many of the ExpressJet aircraft were well-worn in the cabin.

Question 2: United’s Earnings Call had discussion about continuing investments in the products. Specifically, the discussion revolved around increasing utilization of the CRJ 550 and retiring other 50 seat jets. There was no indication on whose aircraft those would be, is it just assumed the oldest CR2s from both operators? Maybe the CRJ 550 won’t be such an oddball in the long run, based on the availability of frames and acceptance by another carrier if GoJet doesn’t make it.

The 145s were in Quebec and Macon for conformity checks and maintenance before being taken up by CommutAir. No cabin upgrades yet. As for 50-seat retirements, best bet is the CR2 fleet will take a big hit over the next few years with retirements. As well, over 100 145s were retired in 2020

E145XR:
N12145 does not appear on the UAX fleet removals list, nor the E145X tab under ExpressJet shutdown (maybe it was operated by TSA?) It appears to have been in Quebec for the last few months, so is this a gray area of not appearing on one of the lists? Is it pre-induction, so not technically a removal?

I also noted a few minor labeling issues:
N12136 is incorrectly labeled as AC #135 (E145X tab)
N25134 is incorrectly labeled as AC #133 (removals list)
N11164 is incorrectly labeled as AC #166 (removals list)

Thanks!

145 along with 3 others are noted on the Coronavirus/Parked list. They were TransStates units that will go to CommutAir. There were 36 on that list to start, many have been removed, others now with CommutAir.

Earnings call among others confirmed delivery of 11 787s this year. 789 & 781s I guess.
Also mentioned 13 752s with "old" engines permanently retired - the 28J ps models I take.
No word on the fate of 764s though.

This was the statement
Looking at capital expenditures. While we currently expect nonaircraft capital expenditures to be around $1.4 billion in 2021, we have a plan where we can reduce this amount by half, if necessary. We expect aircraft capital expenditures in 2021 to be about $2.5 billion, including the 24 737 MAXs, 11 787s and 4 Embraer 175s we expect to take delivery of this year. Just like 2020, we are only taking new aircraft this year that we can fully finance.
So was referring to 2021

The 13 752s were retired in 2020Q4
The only decision we've made on retiring aircraft are the subset of our 757-200 fleet. The ones -- there are about 13 of them that were covered by -- with the engines that are among the oldest in the fleet that, for a number of reasons, decided those are retiring, which is related to the charge we took in the quarter.

So all 11 787s are already delivered this month?
