An ID is scanned during initial biometric registration. An individual's document (usually a driver's license) occasionally does not scan correctly (worn/faded/scratches/code resolution/etc), so an alternate ID (eg passport) might come in handy at initial biometric registration.
I’m an existing CLEAR member with an annual subscription, can I take advantage of the United preferred pricing for CLEAR?
If your CLEAR account was created or renewed less than 60 days ago, you’ll receive a refund for the difference of what you paid. Refunds normally take 3-5 business days after you add your United MileagePlus number to your CLEAR account.

well, apparently they are going to try and enter or drive the market for 'covid healthcare credentials' or authorizations for things like travel, or work entry or some other. I see essentially no chance that that happens. They are not doing testing, and they want to offer/enable some in app ability for a user/flyer/customer to be able to enter in test results, and they could capture/track things like temperature at the points of identity validation. Its a HUGE stretch and I don't really forsee it happening at all by a stand alone entity such as this. The only thing that makes sense about it is that they are going to need $$ to survive and they might be able to spin this into more PE capital or possibly govt. funds. I doubt the airlines are going to be putting more $$ in at this point, with travel probably going to be down probably at least 50% even at the end of the year, and possibly even longer. IATA and other industry analysts say travel won't recover to 2019 levels for probably 3.5 years.

guess it has been a year ... just got this Email from them:
Hi Cfischer–
We hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.
As a reminder, your membership renews in 30 days. Unless your MileagePlus® status changes before that time, your CLEAR membership will continue to be complimentary as a part of your MileagePlus status.
If your status does change in the next 30 days, you will be charged based on your status at the time of renewal on 07/29/2020.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the CLEAR lane soon.
Best,
The CLEAR Team

Thanks to United paying for my Clear as a 1K, I've enjoyed using it at TSA checkpoints for my Delta, American, and Southwest flights. It's about the only UA Premier benefit I've been able to use in the last 3 months, outside of a 1K agent who helped me with an upcoming mid-July itinerary

In the past two weeks I've been through CLEAR in CLE - IAD - CLE - LAX (in that order) and only got the gift bag at IAD (some older/more manager-looking CLEAR employee popped out of the shadows and handed it to me while I was being escorted to the checkpoint by the "normal" CLEAR employees...was kind of odd)

Does anyone know if auto-renew will renew for free since I'm still 1K? I just got the email today saying my account expires next month. Zero verbiage about it being free thanks to my 1K status. My UA MP# is linked to my Clear account. Auto-renew was not turned on. I've since turned it on.
Just wondering if I'm supposed to do anything else to keep the free annual membership going. Or can I expect a charge on my C/C next month?

I am 1K. Have not yet met the reduced requirements to renew this year, so that isn't a factor apparently.
Might be worth a call to them.

The email I received a week ago from CLEAR for my renewal indicated "Unless your MileagePlus status changes before that time, your CLEAR membership will continue to be complimentary as part of your MileagePlus status."
