Totally true Kacee. The accommodation is one thing but it just makes business travelers doubt whether the tickets they generally buy will end up being on flights with the seats and thus disincentives advance purchases..

My flight on UA180 on Apr 12th 2020 is now on a 777-2 with 6 across in business. A little disappointed as I felt for sure this would be a 777-3 route with Polaris.

Mods are progressing. By April you'll have a more-likely-than-not chance of the Polaris seat.

That's what I was thinking. Looks like Polaris is utilized about one-third of the EWR-HKG and half of the SFO-HKG flights currently, with two sCO 772s (N78009 and N77012) rotating between EWR and SFO.

I was able to swap my July flight to route via sfo given the change in equipment from 773 to 772. rep was super helpful and was happy to accommodate me at no charge

I suppose there's a rotation or performance-related reason all the HKG flying is now on the GE90 77Y/77E, which hurts the likelihood of Polaris seating for now, versus the PW-powered 772s, almost all of which have new cabins. In fact, all of the PW 772s out of SFO are the 77U/77N with new seating.

Side question: Has there ever before been regular sCO 772 service ex-SFO? I don’t believe there has. If assignment holds for 12/26, will be my first flight on one in over half a million miles (BIS) since the merger.

Choose 8E (or 8D) and you too will regret to see this bird being retrofitted!

I have 8D

Just hoping that if there’s a swap to Polaris, they don’t give me same.

Not on international routes. I *think* I flew on a sCO 772 SFO-EWR once a few years back (maybe around 2016 because I vaguely recall Summer Olympics tin amenity kits) but I'm not sure that was even a regular thing.

It makes sense to fly the GE90 777s on longer hauls because of the extra 8k in gross weight, and SFO/EWR-HKG are currently the two longest 772 routes in the system.

I don't think there has either, with the exception of scheduled EWR-SFO-EWR and IAH-SFO-IAH utilization turns. I saw an EWR one earlier this fall, and I think I last saw an IAH one in 2018 (these were definitely pmCO 77Y for the entire week I was looking, not one-off subs for 77G).

I rode in 2A on one of these a couple weeks ago on 877, and must say my (low) expectations were somewhat exceeded.
